Dan probably has to live that title down every day. (How many kids did he punch out in middle school for taunting him like this? I'm next... ;))

Anyway, I had the opportunity to photograph one of Dan's current offerings. It's a Vanguard series knife from a noted dealer. Guess who purchased BACK this one—the original prototype? You got it. Dan Farr.

Like all of Dan's work, the fit and finish is mindboggling, and his legendary handle finishes appear like a lacquer furniture finish.

Dan will offer his insights soon enough.

That is simply superb - the finish on the handle, the depth and richness of the figuring and colour in the wood - outstanding.

I'd say that noted dealer has a real good eye ;) and Mr. Farr has some talented hands. I just love the blade profile on this knife. Dan had something similar in his Reno offerings. I was drooling then and even more so now with that superb pic to go along with the excellent knife.

Dan's not afraid to try new things, and I just love seeing the direction his ideas take him. The handle and guard configuration on this knife look really well thought out. I imagine that Dan has learned a lot about handle ergonomics in all those cutting comps he's competed in.

pics work for me too Coop nice

Dan and I were in the same intro to bladesmithing class and I'll just say this about him and his knives. If you can get one....GET one. The boy knows what hes doing.
Great pic coop!
