FARRIER'S RASP (needs improvement)

Still have a long way to go in my development as a knifemaker, but wanted to show this one for now. Still don't do grinds very well and still don't create perfect bevels, but I am saving up for the nice belt grinder and hopefully that will allow more precise work. My 6" bench grinder is limiting. Blade length on this one is 5 3/4" and OAL is 10 1/2" made from a farrier's rasp. Handle material is sandalwood. I'll be working on the lanyard today. As always, I appreciate any comments or suggestions for improvements.

I think it looks pretty good. I have alway loved the way farriers knives look.

The knife looks pretty good and after reading your post you know what the next one needs and a good grinder will help alot.. Rasp knives make good knives. Just need to grind some more blades. I'm like a doctor still practicing after about 25 of making knives.

Three words...Practice Practice Practice
Soon your skills will outperform the grinders ability, you will know when.
Do yourself a favor and buy a good grinder or this will repeat itself, ask me how I know this!
If I were to do it over it would be done with the No-Weld grinder plans available.

Thanks guys for all of your feedback and input. It is sorta intimidating to put one's work out there for review when I can't even do a good plunge line yet, but I am enjoying the heck out of what I can do and just looking forward to improving. The advice and encouragement given by the good folks on this forum is invaluable.

The enjoyment you get will grow along with your talent. Good equipment is great but nothing mathces desire.
