I love sebenzas but hate their not fast opening. Anyone know of a knife with a similar design that I can flick open? (No bradley alias's or striders)

How fast of an opening do you need? I have never been in a situation where opening a Sebenza with the thumbstuds would have made things worse in any capacity.

Apply a little of the CRK flourinated grease to the pivot point. If you want anything faster than that, get some practice, or get an auto.

autos not legal for me and ive never needed to open it super fast but id like to be able to just for fun you know. i dont "need" a strider but i got one:rolleyes: haha

If you want to play with a knife then get something assisted. I don't think you would enjoy playing with a Sebenza.

I can "pop" both the Umnumzaan and Sebenza open just as fast as an auto with my thumb (no wrist) but I don't ever feel it's needed. I prefer to have my thumb on the stud until it's locked open.

"Play" wise I think it would be hard to beat a flipper, maybe a ZT?

I think the Xm-18 opens quite fast. There is the flipper option too. Never held a sebenza, but striders open slow. Then and again it's probably pretty hard to make that kind of blade open fast.

Sebs & Umnums don't tend to "flick" open quickly like other knives. However, I've noticed that they may start to after getting broken in.

Having said all that, I just recently got a lg. reg. Seb (An '06) & "played" with the lock-bar as it was VERY stiff. It now opens incredibly smoothly.

If you're looking for other knives that are fun to play with, are legal, & flick open quickly, I'd suggest a flipper type folder.

HUH???

Mine fly open faster than most other knives I have used.

i can flick out my leatherman if i wanted

if you want to flick a sebenza clean the grease out and ad some tuff glide or your preferred lubricant

i have been able to thumb flick every sebenza and strider folder i have owned.

3 lge, 1 small sebenza.

2 sng's, 1 smf.

Hi Bill, what exactly does that mean. I'm confused.

Just the placement of the "thumbstud" and what not. Maybe it was just mine that didn't open up so fast. I found myself dragging the hole all the way around.

But I was referring to the very thick blade they put on a SMF. I would figure it would open slower, unless it had a REAL thumbstub that you could get a good push behind.
