With 20+ Spydies in my collection to practice with here are my two top choices for fastest opening:

1. Military- Very light (no liners is a good thing)
Sure grip
Extra large thumb hole makes for an easier flick

2. Viele - A super smooth operating gentlemen's knife

Both knives seem to open as fast as an automatic.

I'd like to hear other opinions.

The Mili out of my four Spydies, Mili, Temperance, Native and Salsa flicks open every time with ease! It’s interesting to note the position of the hole relative to the pivot, then realize a persons thumb length may play a big role in the flick! Next for me it’s the Native followed by Temperance then Salsa, that hood is a hindrance in the flick! The Temperance along with the Salsa for me, require more of an up and in/or across the scale, motion. This motion doesn’t happen every time but done correctly these latter two knives are second only to the Mili! The hood BTW scratches my thumbnail during a flick and I’m coming to the conclusion that I just don’t rest my thumb in that position much either.

I just recently started collecting my Spydies, but out of the five that I have, I would go with my Millie as being the fastest that I am able to draw. Like roguesoul, I also choose my Native as the second fastest.

I would have to rank the Chinese Lum in the top five.

Flick, drop, or kin op ramp - the Gunting is a warp 10 blur!

Stay safe! Stay sharp!

Ingore clip on Gunting, draw it tip-up out of your pocket. You'll find a big "wave" at its spine! And if you're more ambitious than I, you can remove the clip and turn it upside down for tip up carry.

Well, I'm through Bram Frank's three Gunting videos, and know how it spoils its intended use in SD. But even ignoring SD side of Gunting, it's a good knife for chores, too. I presume some of Gunting fans who cares for SD will like the idea to carry a "real" one in right front pocket with its tip up, a "drone" on the belt in kydex sheath.

I only have five Spydies, Gunting/Civilian/Harpy/Remote-Release/Q. I haven't learnt the Gunting yet, and strangely the Remote-Release opens quickest, it has a much larger hole than normal (its an older model) and no liners, similar to the Milli.
Make all Spydie holes bigger? Has anyone reamed/drilled out/embiggened a standard hole to improve handling?

Well, I "waved" my Lum (w/a zip-tie- addressed in another thread) & that's pretty damn fast. Otherwise, my Wegner just somehow winds up open in my hand when I take it out of my pocket. (was my EDC for 3 yrs)
