Hello all, my 17yr daughter wants a tomahawk/war axe for Christmas. After looking, I am going to get her a SOG Fasthawk. I am torn between the 12.5" length and the 15.75" length though. She is a little under 5' still and I think the 12.5" would fit her fine, but am thinking the 15.75" may be more versatile as I would like her to take it out and use it and not just have it as decoration.

I am hoping some of you would share your opinions on the matter to give me a few different points of view to mull over. Experienced viewpoints are most welcome as I have no experience with 'hawks in use. Thanks!

Nevermind, wound of going with the Cold Steel Weeping Heart instead! Thanks!

I have the 12.5 inch model and it would probably work well for her. It's pretty tough as well. I guess you can cut the handle down on the CS Hawk though to fit her better if need be. Good luck and have a great day.

I think the shorter one would work just fine. I usually cut my "truck hawks" down to about that length to keep them handy and compact.

My 10 year old daughter throws a Norse hawk that I think I have cut to about 13.75". Works just fine for chopping and throwing :)
