This thread is about the CG ASH-1 or Fat ASH-1, who would feel good about being in a long term Survival Situation with just a CG ASH-1 and a sharpening Stone, PSK and a firearm of your choice.

Also who out there uses ther CG ASH-1 as there primary field knife and what are your thoughts on it in that situation.

I did use a CG for a while as my main knife. It worked, but thinner stock could have shown some advantages. You would definately need a PSK style to accompany it. I am about to order a Skinny to try (or get my hands on an LE).

So, my choice;

Skinny ASH (or LE)
Thin stock Game Warden (as PSK)
Remington Model 700VTR in .308 Win :cool:

When do we go?

I have two CG ASH-1's and one of them has a slightly thinned edge, It cuts like a laser so I I don't think I would have a problem cutting with it, just need time and the place to try it out.

i have each and would have no problem using any as a primary knife, even the skinny which is my first choice.

Skunk, how have you found the Skinny for prying? I can not find much on tests etc.

i have only used mine for moderate prying on wood. i'm not much help here as i don't pry with my knives much. i can hang my full weight (240+-) on the handle with the blade clamped at the half way mark, it bends but springs back straight.

.

That will do for me. I only pry bark and some wood sections of fallen trees etc - general camp chore stuff. Will place an order at the CS in the next few days! Its currently coming up with an error... :) Updating are we?

Just found a heap of reviews on the Skinny ASH on that youtube thingy....

Skinny Ash or Sarsquatch and a Ruger MarkIII.:cool: CG Ash1 is to fat for its own good.:foot:
