It finally happened I gave into my long desire for a Fatcat and she'll be here on Wednesday if the shipping gods smile upon me.

This has been a horrible week and Wednesday was the 'peak' of everything going wrong. I'm one of those men strongly influenced by my family's women as a young child and have been cursed with RTSRS (Retail therapy Stress Relief Syndrome). Normally a quick trip to the mall or Best Buy does the trick. However Wednesday required far greater measures.

Picked up three folders from a dealer one of which was the Fatcat, a knife I have been drooling over all year. It only took two clicks and she was in my shopping cart.

I didnt calculate how much the wait would torture me when I selected ground shipping...I'm an idiot. RTSRS requires instant gratification, should have selected overnight.

Needless to say I'm VERY excited....will post pics when she arrives.

I dont have a Tomcat yet that may be my next SOG. I will have two Emersons in the shipment for comparison if that will be of benefit. I can shoot it next to an A100 mini and a Super 7.

Looks like UPS changed the delivery date, Fatcat will be here on Tuesday now!! :D

The Obese Feline has arrived. UPS showed up around noon and I've barely put her down all day..talk about a negative impact on my business productivity lol

Thought i'd share the upwrapping with you fine SOG forum people. Please excuse my camera skills one of these days I promise to take a class.

I only had one other folder before this shipment arrived so this cat isnt going to be sitting in a safe. She'll be taking over for my SMF for a while, possibly a long while as much as I've enjoyed today. Sadly I cant take her traveling with me, but whenever Im home this Fatcat will get lots of carry time.

The sheath is nice, feels sturdy especially with the FRN clip adding some rigidness. I like leather sheaths more than nylon as a personal preference so I'll most like send her off to get a new one from a leather sheath maker. Something slim and horizontal carry is what I'm thinking right now.

Well protected for shipping from the bubble wrap to the Ti bolster guards. It's nice knowing I'll get to claim responsibility for the very first 'love' mark

The Kraton handle is fine. If there were one spot where I'd make a recommendation I'd say throw on some of that nice carbon fiber that is available on the Tom Cat. I haven't felt it yet but it looks great and carbon fiber always makes a nice handle material. I know Kraton is extremely durable and it does provide good grip, but when everything else has been given attention to the highest degree and you already have carbon fiber readily available on other models...I say offer it!

Opening her for the first time was awesome, I haven't used an arc-lock knife in a LONG time...we're talking years. The Fatcat's action is so silky smooth I couldn't help but giggle a bit those first few times. One of the reasons I have barely put her down today LOL

Thought I'd grab a close up of the Seki Japan stamp. I noticed another thread listing where each model was made from the SOG line up. Last knife I owned made in Seki was an S1 nine years ago.

Ran out of pic room...next post coming!

Quick shot of the main Logo on left side. The letters 'Fatcat' on the left side are actually crystal clear on the blade...for some reason I just couldn't get a nice pic of them, arg!

That TiNi coating gives the blade an incredible look. Most of the photos on dealer websites you can't tell how the contrast will look in person. I think what really sets it off is the ever so slight recurve belly..that tiny bit of curve makes the blade IMHO.

Great edge, I wouldnt stamp it 'wicked' sharp but no question it is indeed 'scary' sharp. I reserve the wicked sharp category for only a select few.

Truly an awesome knife from SOG, I have to admit this is going to fuel some soon to come additional stress therapy purchases. SOG uses the word exceptional in their website description of the FC-01...hits the nail on the head if you ask me :)

Wow what an impressive looking beast of a folder. Nothing wrong with your pictures either, they look great!

How much is SOG paying you to tempt us !?!?!? A lot of money for a knife I'm not sure I've got a niche for, even if do have an itch for. Maybe I can scratch up a Tomcat III. :D

Do you have a pic of that beast in hand?
I still can't get how big it is!

Glad everyone enjoyed the pics....more to come, lol

Hmmm, I knew I forgot to negotiate something before making this post :) My itch was too strong to resist, if I had picked up a Tomcat this time I would have only been putting off the inevitable.

Besides I need something else to pad my Bluto order so I can rationalize overnight shipping :D If I do another ground shipment the anticipation may kill me.

Sure, I'll make a new post with some in-hand pics and comparisons with another knife for size references.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them. I've lusted after this knife ever since someone posted the first Catalog pictures. Pretty sweet!!
