I had some time last night and thought I'd grab a few more pics of this sweet folder. Someone who shall remain anonymous asked if I needed TWO HANDS to hold it

Obviously I have to prove even with my size challenged hands the Fatcat fits perfectly, lol

In the last pictures I still had the protective covers on the bolsters so I don't think the contrast really came out well. This is one of my favorite parts so I rubbed it all clean this time. The bolsters aren't all brushed, the thumb cutouts are polished. In the light they look freaking incredible.

These three pics show it next to an Emerson Super CQC7 (also newly arrived with the Fatcat). When you put them side by side, the Fatcat really isn't over sized at all. She's fuller bodied in the blade and handle but overall length wise is barely larger than the Emerson. makes sense when you take the Super CQC7 at 3.78" / 9.15" and the Fatcat at 4.5" / 10.1". The cutting edges are even closer in specs. the CQC7's blade edge goes almost to the handle and you can see on the ruler is right on the mark to listed specs. the Fatcat actually comes in closer to 4.25 for cutting edge and the listed spec of 4.5" takes it to the handle.

First, remember I did say very clearly I had SMALL hands therefore keep that in mind for the pics below. If the Fatcat looks a little larger in my hand than the comparison pics with the CQC7 thats why, LOL

When holding the knife normally, it feels perfectly comfortable as any other folder.

Opening is so smooth its like butter all the way into the locked position. Kind of funny it goes almost on its own. Action smoothness is one of those things we all look for in a folder and no 'wear-in' period needed here. Whatever SOG does in the pivot area with washers, lube and lock they got smoothness down to a science. I'm dying to see if the Bluto and Tomcat have action this nice.

Ran out of pic room....

Finger grooves on the underside for three fingers fit nicely for my index and middle finger. I wear a ring 24hrs so my ring finger never gets to lay against the handle entirely :)

Quick shot of hand opened and left flat after a closed grip and you can see while its comfortable for me there is PLENTY of extra room in those finger grooves for a normal sized hand or possibly even Shrek

Reach is easy to disengage lock and begin the blade closure. If I don't have to move my hand for my small fingers...anyone else will be just fine as well.

I included this pic to show why I think its not too large for me and other with hands challenged by size. the profile of the Fatcat is kept slim. SOG didn't waste any space or put on bulky thick contoured handle slabs. If you have large hands there is more than enough handle to fill them. If you have small hands like me the Fatcat accommodates them just as comfortably.

These last two were for fun. The balance is freaking perfect and I used the hall light shadows to help illustrate. There is no help from my other fingers to steady the knife...clear air between handle and closed fingers. The blade may be 4.5" and nicely thick but it isn't blade heavy in the slightest.

Very slick. They made a great knife there.

Nameless, huh? :D My hand is only about a half-inch longer than yours but the right ring finger takes a size 12.25 and my palm is 4" across. FatCat should fit just fine.

Those in hand pictures are great. Really gives us a sense of it's size and Wow!! It's Huge! :D Kind of glad I'm broke right now cause I almost ordered one after seeing all your great shots. Thank you for taking the time to take all these pictures and post them. When you get your other SOG folders, please post plenty of pictures of them and some side by sides.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for the cool thread and excellent pictures. I had no idea SOG had branched out into such large folders!

I think that's a really nice large folder... I wish it were a little less expensive though.

Either way, nice review and pics.

I handled one of these over the weekend at Rep. show at Smoky Mountain Knifeworks and it is big.

It is also SILKY SMOOTH in every way.

In my opinion (and I am wrong a lot)

These won't be made for very long due to the amazing quality, (the cost to make this knife I am guessing would be high), etc. etc. etc.

Just my opinion..........so if you want one you better get one pretty soon.........:p
