I had some time last night and thought I'd grab a few more pics of this sweet folder. Someone who shall remain anonymous asked if I needed TWO HANDS to hold it
Obviously I have to prove even with my size challenged hands the Fatcat fits perfectly, lol
In the last pictures I still had the protective covers on the bolsters so I don't think the contrast really came out well. This is one of my favorite parts so I rubbed it all clean this time. The bolsters aren't all brushed, the thumb cutouts are polished. In the light they look freaking incredible.
These three pics show it next to an Emerson Super CQC7 (also newly arrived with the Fatcat). When you put them side by side, the Fatcat really isn't over sized at all. She's fuller bodied in the blade and handle but overall length wise is barely larger than the Emerson. makes sense when you take the Super CQC7 at 3.78" / 9.15" and the Fatcat at 4.5" / 10.1". The cutting edges are even closer in specs. the CQC7's blade edge goes almost to the handle and you can see on the ruler is right on the mark to listed specs. the Fatcat actually comes in closer to 4.25 for cutting edge and the listed spec of 4.5" takes it to the handle.
First, remember I did say very clearly I had SMALL hands therefore keep that in mind for the pics below. If the Fatcat looks a little larger in my hand than the comparison pics with the CQC7 thats why, LOL
When holding the knife normally, it feels perfectly comfortable as any other folder.
Opening is so smooth its like butter all the way into the locked position. Kind of funny it goes almost on its own. Action smoothness is one of those things we all look for in a folder and no 'wear-in' period needed here. Whatever SOG does in the pivot area with washers, lube and lock they got smoothness down to a science. I'm dying to see if the Bluto and Tomcat have action this nice.
Ran out of pic room....
