I recieved a old slipjoint knife that my 9 year old daughter got me for fathers day this morning. She found it at a yard sale last week and decided to get it for me. It was a nice suprise. I was wondering if any of you knew any info about it. The blade says : INOX Albacete. I did a little investigating and found that these are spanish knives. Anyone have any other info? i will definetly carry every now and then:)

First happy Father's Day

The knife looks like a French Regional knife known as a Le Violon
Hope this helps you out a bit

Albacete indicates that the knife is Spanish in origin.

Correct the maker, but the pattern itself seems to be the French Le Violon pattern, there is a lot of cross over between patterns, because of the migration of workers/farmers/field hands between France & Spain.
Just wanted to add that my beloved Laguioles are modeled after( a French interpretation of) the Spanish Navaja brought back to France by migrant farmers.

Pete you're on the money I reckon. It would make this knife's style that of the Aquitaine region, right on the border with Spain.

Nice! Spanish made, for sure, and these other guys have it nailed down - Spanish & French influences mixed quite a lot around those border regions, evidently.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Any guesses on the steel used? Im guessing 420 or 440a.

I'd guess the same. Likely takes a razor sharp edge with very little work.

Nice knife. Congrats!
