As many of you have probably noticed, and a few of you have commented on, my photos blow! Well no more, Beth and the boy's came through big this year, with a new camera. Being that it is Fathers Day I decided to play, so I grabbed a Grizzly that was headed to the never see the light of day box (it has a grind flaw) and ace (the dog)

a quick parer slice to check the edge

then I started with some drilling, that is a spent 9mm casing for scale

next i found a piece of poplar that got mixed in with the hard wood for an easy warm up. three hits with a baton and it was done

that went so well I moved on to the hard wood

One last paper test,

I am very pleased this Grizzly! Piggy backed with a cub it will make one hell of a rig. The one below is the prototype from Rick Lowe. As I write this he is working on the finished set up. The cub sheath will still be detachable and can be worn as a separate knife but the shoulder strap will have a pouch for an Altoids tin and the whole rig will be refined.

Dan - Can I make a few suggestions?

Make a basic light box - I made mine from this site. Then learn how to set the 'white balance' on your camera as well as how to use the macro function effectively.

You may already know all of this, and if so, I am sorry for barking up the wrong tree. I just know that when I did these two things - my sheath pictures got SO much better and I was able to sell more quickly with better pictures.

thank you for the advice. all but the last 2 wear taken out side. I will retake the last two tomorrow when i go in to the shop, as that is wear my light box is, as well as the rig. I am still learning to playing with the white scale.

I knew they were all outside - and if you already have a white box - just learn the settings on that new camera and I think your knives will look even MO betta!
