Hey guys!

Fathers day is coming up, and i really wanted to get a nice slipjoint for my dad. He currently carries a Case Pen knife daily. I offered him my Case Stockman once, and he said it was too big for him to carry, Im guessing he meant that it was too thick to carry. I want it to be a surprise, so i dont really want to directly ask him what he wants. Ive showed him multiple knives online, and he likes the look of the Case Copperlock, and he really likes the look of the Schatt & Morgan heritage series jack.

So i hope that helps you guys know a little bit of what he likes in a knife. Any recommendations?

Thanks!
Reid

Maybe baby butterbean? They look nice long pull, swedges, I've had my eye on one for a little while haven't dropped the coin. Thought that and my peanut would make a nice everyday carry combo. Plus it's a bean and a legume it's a complete protein:-)

Thanks! Hes more into the jack knife look from what i can tell. I forgot to mention that he has a peanut, but he doesnt carry it because its too small for him. I guess he's Picky!

My bad, I thought you were looking for something small and thin. I know you said he doesn't like stockmen, but the 6318 rides really nice in the front pocket I'm always checking to see if it's still there. Plus lots of choices. Good luck I'm sure whatever you decide he will be proud to carry.

No that was a great recommendation, because i love that knife :D That 6318 looks like it would be a joy to carry. no sharp corners like my stockman.

Sounds like he needs a Case swayback jack!

Thanks, Mark! I showed that to him a while back. he liked the look. But when i showed him the Schatt & Morgan, he REALLY liked it. Id love to get that for him, im just low on money at the moment.

If he wouldnt mind having a lockback, the Case mini copperlock may fit the bill.
It's small and.easy to carry, but is still sturdy enough to use.

Besides the obvious Peanut,I really do think he would enjoy the Case Swayback Jack in Chestnut bone and CV steel:thumbup:.It is a great little knife that is slightly larger than a Peanut, more hand filling.I have a really nice Case Damascus Stag Peanut that I carried for a year nonstop, but have been packing my new Swayback as of late, can't seem to kick it out of my pocket:o.

It sounds like your dad knows what he likes, so be very careful buying him a knife that you may like, but is not on his list. From what it sounds like, maybe a small Texas jack may be a nice choice. Make sure it's the smallest one at just a bit longer than his pen knife. I think 3 3/8ths or so would be okay. If a peanut is too small, and a stockman too big, then the middle ground must be it.

Carl.

Thanks guys.

Sitflyer- i have not, i will look into it! thank you!

Grim- I personally love the swayback jack's design, id have to get one for myself also if i were going to get him one!! Ill indirectly bring up a picture of a swayback, and ask him what he things.. ;)

jack- I was thinking about a Texas Jack. it seems great. Very neat design, very close to the design of a stockman, but not as large. Thanks!

I showed my father a picture of a Case 6318. he really liked it. so thats what im leaning towards!

Checkout the " A jewel from Case " thread.
I think the punch, sheepsfoot and clip on the 6318pu would complement your fathers pen knife. I know for me the punch is very useful.

Get him a Case Back Pocket.
One Blade - No lock - You can get it in multiple handle materials - Big enough to be looked at as just a folder - Still really pocketable - can get it with a Lanyard hole on which you can tie him a personal lanyard or can get him a nice lanyard for.
