My two daughters wanted to go hiking with me on fathers day, I suggested Mt. Charleston it's a bit cooler up there! I have been wanting to hike up to the Brislecone pine grove above the ski lodge and check out the old trees. I have hiked to the Bristlecone's at Mt Wheeler quite a few years ago but have never been to them on Charleston. If your not familiar with the Bristlecone Pine, they are the oldest single living organism on Earth, the oldest being around 5000 years old and only grow in a few areas in the Western US. If you want to read about them.

Anyways I really like Bristlecone Pines:D

The hike was only about 4 miles and we had a great time! got to use my newly stripped BS on a pesky dry salami and cheese, with trisquits for a snack up at the grove. Once we made our way back down to the ski lodge we dropped into the Bristlecone bar for a few refreshments, after that I took them hiking at a favorite trail near Deer Creek that I have been to in the past and for some reason hardly no body knows about.
After we had are hiking done we headed back to Vegas to our favorite Sushi place and had a wonderful dinner!
One of the best Fathers Day's I have ever had and the best part is they want to go hiking with there old man more often!

Looked like a fun hike! I like the bench ya got there!!
Having kids is a wonderful adventure!

:thumbup:Great pics. Glad you had a wonderful Father's Day with your daughters. That's what it's all about:)

Looks like a great day, I've been wanting to see some of those pines for quite some time, they sound amazing. Every time I think about going down, I look up the weather for where you guys are at and think I'll melt if I go down there. I'll stick to my wind, rain, and snow for a little while longer up here in Canada.

Great pics, looks like you had a wonderful time

Very beautiful area, but I'm partial to mountains ;)

Congrats on what appears to be an epic Father's Day! Nothing like breaking up the the routine and doing something special with the ones you love to celebrate a special day.

That bench is awesome! I wonder if my chainsaw skills are good enough to do something like that.

Thanks! I'm glad you guys enjoyed the pictures/story it was a epic day!
Idaho Jarhead I should have took a picture of all the chain saw furniture, there was a lounge chair two single chairs with foot stools too. I have carved wood with a chain saw and it would be pretty easy to duplicate the furniture, if you could find logs big enough!

It looks like you had an awesome Fathers day! Your daughters had a blast, I am sure! There is nothing better than spending time with the pops :D

I wish my dad liked to go hiking! You can't ask for a better bonding experience than that! Looks like so much fun.

Great pictures! It looks like you had a wonderful Father's Day and a bucket of beer to finish off the hike is always a great way to cool off :D
