My day always buys those $2.00 knives you find by the cash register at a hardware store. I would like to give him at least a little upgrade for father's day. He likes a light knife with 2 to 3ish inch plain lock blade. He would also flip if I bought him a high dollar knife. He would never put it in his pocket. Any recommendations from the Spyderco lines?

Be kind to me. I am fairly new here with minimal posts. Not familiar with quality of Spydercos various product lines.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "plain lock" so I'll assume you mean a lock back knife. If so, as previously suggested, the Dragonfly or Delica would be hard to beat. If they're too pricey take a look at one of the smaller Byrd knives. The Finch 2 G10 is small and low-priced. The Meadowlark 2 G10 is another great choice.

The Delica is pure awesomeness, best knife ever made. Take a look at the stainless steel version, very thin in the pocket and superb build and feel

Native 5 LW no doubt!! Second would be a delica 4.

That's the one!
I don't know about your dad but if I gave mine a knife that said anything other than USA on it it would be returned.
Just how it is sometimes.

I already have a Native headed my way so...

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just pretend this is hwitty.

Raven 2...... I've been using it hard on the farm, and it's been holding up GREAT! Big enough to do any job, sharp-I've only had to sharpen it once. I was weed whacking along old fences in horse pasture and had what I thought was weeds around trimmer. But under the weeds was a piece of old barb wire. Edge didn't like it- 5 minutes on Arkansas stones/strop and back to new! :)

For the price, it is a darn good knife; and cheap enough price wise it won't hurt the bank. I bought mine so I wouldn't mess up my burple pm2.
