My dad is an Electrician, He isnt really a knife nut, and he is impossible to choose a gift for, since he always buys everything he needs or wants(like myself) I was wondering if there was any high quality electrician's knives produced by a decent maker. I have seen only cheapies around, and I was thinking more like 40-50 bucks, decent steel, materials. Maybe VG-10 or 440C- even S30V if it doesnt cost too much. Something that he can get some years of use from. Otherwise, any other ideas for an impossible to buy for kind of guy? Doesnt even have to be a knife.

thanks

RF-I had the same idea about a year ago. My brother is an electrician and I thought a quality electricians knife would be a great gift-there was just one problem... I searched high and low and the best I could find was a 24.95 Case brand which was basically a bottom of the line knife knife with a pruner blade for stripping wire and a screwdriver blade. Then it hit me-electricians carry wire strippers and good quality screwdrivers that will do the job better than any pocket knife.... So I gave up on the electricians knife idea and bought him a Queen small stockman w/D-2 steel and cocobolo scales.($49.95)He loves the knife and is amazed at how long the D-2 blades holds their edge.

Maybe a spydie native in S30V, it would be great for stripping insulation off cable and would easily cut through some of the thinner gague stuff. Is he a domestic electrician or does he do something special. I know when I have worked on fitting sockets and switches you always need to trim something like sheet rock or a joist, open a package or binders on materials. The Native would be a nice, lightweight choice.

Id say get a spyderco native aswell. I actually got my dad a BM 690 but thats a little out of the price range. It should be here next week and i got it for 120 bucks. What do u guys think. Sorry enough "Post Jacking." Carry on :p

Thanks, guys I ordered the electrician from knives plus- they had the best price. Just for the hell of it I ordered myself a Sharpmaker too :D
Thanks again.
