A few minutes to honor fathers.

To those that are fathers; it is a "real world" commitment.

A commitment to putting others before you.
A commitment to protection, caring, providing.
A commitment to sacrifice your own needs and desires.
A commitement to put responsibility before all else.

Knowing it will not likely be fully understood or appreciated until after your gone.

To those that have living fathers,

Trust that you will not fully understand the change that being a father makes to a life. It is a responsibility that defies perfection. Judgement is not possible, but honest effort deserves the lions share of points. It is best to appreciate your fathers in "the living years".

Happy Fathers day.

Happy Fathers Day Sal,

That was well put.

I thought that my life was full and complete, then we had a son.

Now it is.

Same to you, Sal. As a father of five who lost his own father six weeks ago today has had a special poignancy for me.

Wise words Sal. I was fortunate to have spent the day with my kids, who really made it a great father's day.

My son and I spent part of the day getting our blades sharp on a 204. My daughter even tried it out. :)

Thanks for your kind thoughts on Fathers' Day, Sal. I am in the curious position of being a Grandfather and a practicing Father at te same time. My son is 30 and has two splendid kids and my adopted daughter, Teresa, is 17 and finishing Junior Year in H.S. She had her very best year yet, finishing on the Honor Roll and being taken into the Honor Society as well as playing Guard on the JV Field Hockey team. That's a very long way from the barrios of El Salvador in the late 1980s civil war, so you all will forgive a bit of Fatherly bragging, won't you?

happy fathers day to all, as well as to poppa spydie, the patriach of the famous folding knife with the hole and a clip...
