This is the style Kami Sherpa used in his Indian Ghurka regiment. Occasionally this style is disparaged here on Bladeforums, but it is a traditional style that has seen a lot of use. One characteristic is the tang is shaped so it also goes up where the central handle ring does. Poorly done, this can be a hand ripper. Well crafted, it will be highly serviceable through decades of hard use. I will be looking forward to the user reviews on these from HI.
