I ventured into better knives (BM & Spyder) about two years ago. Ever since I have suggested that my father get a knife. He is a mechanic and cuts lots of things. Never carried one his entire life, but he got some “gas station” knife. I bought him a cheap Browning knife that was a step up to see if he cared. After commenting how much he liked it I knew he would like the next small step. One day I told him about the Tenacious and showed him some pictures. He really liked it. I went home for the evening.

Fast forward and he has ordered one from the Bay. It was direct ship from China but came in a box covered with German (possibly) postage marks. I was suspicious about this. Over two weeks after ordering he gets notice of a refund and removal of the seller. Another week passes and here it finally is. Keep in mind, he ordered one after the notice from a rep vender known here and it beat the fake.

YES! It was indeed a fake. We compared it to mine and the legit stores knife and there were several obvious issues. I would love to list all the problems and compare it with pictures.... but that helps the jerks who make this crap. I will accept PM's about how to spot one if you really want to know.

Finally, I posted all this to let everyone know the good news. We kept the fake and got a full refund. The scam artists played the game and lost it all.
 
This is why buying knives off eBay is sketchy.
For something as common as a Tenacious, why not go with a more reputable dealer (BladeHQ / KnifeCenter / KnifeWorks just to name a few)?
 
He orders lots of things off the internet. He has bought and sold on the site for years and never had a problem. He doesn't spend his time here, nor did he know about all the online vendors. As soon as I heard we discussed this, thank ye old knife shoppe for providing a legit specimen.

Next time he orders he won't make the mistake. A Tenacious is very uncommon to someone in his age group. Hopefully he can show how much better the real knife is and bring in some more business for the proper supplier. His friends would spend that kind of money without thinking twice. May the addiction spread.

One day he might be packing some sprint run...
 
Why would you order a knife from China? That should have been a red flag right there.
 
Only buy used knives from Ebay. That's what I do, and I've never seen a used fake. Also, never buy a PM2 from Ebay, as there are tons of fakes.

Look at Knifeworks, Knifecenter, KnivesShipFree, and GP Knives instead of Ebay...
