Fatwood,fire,fungus,figure 4,bird nests,a bug & an alien?(My M Day WE).

Needless to say I had a blast!
The weather was cool(60s/30s)so the fire was appreciated.(glad I brought my chain saw)
I harvested the last of the fatwood from the stump I've been getting it from for the last few years.(but don't worry,there's plenty more out there.):thumbup:

While battoning some pieces for the fire the Hudson Bay ran into a knot & at first I thought it wasn't going to make it through,but I just needed a bigger baton.

The HBXL made it through no prob,I just needed a bigger hammer.;)

I then shaved up some of that fine PNW fatwood & layed it on one of the many old birds nests I found..
added a few sparks with the Kephart & viola....FIRE!

Cooked some Brats over the Emberlit after a hike the next day.(Mmmmm)

I found a few Morels around camp.

And made a figure 4 trap,but didn't trap anything,because you know....if you kill it,you eat it & I had enough food in the cooler.;)

Now this really freaked me out.
I thought I'd found an alien's skeleton...

But it was just an old log that had been eaten by termites/carpenter ants.

nice trip sir. great pictures. I can't believe you guys are still getting morels up there. we been out for about a month now lol. our weather has been nuts though.

mykel m! Thanks for sharing these photos! Real good job on the photos, and looks like you were having a real good time! I like the looks of that axe too! With all the things that have been going on with me lately, I haven't had the time to keep up with things on the forums, so I have been going back a few pages, and this one caught my eye! I wish I could get out to the woods for awhile, and just plant myself down, relax, and just watch and listen to what is going on there! Thanks and take care!

Thanks Tom,I'll be going back next wednesday through saturday.
There is nothing better than sitting back & listening to the wind in the trees with the occasional bird call thrown in.
Some times I get lucky & see/hear turkey,deer & elk too.
At night it's owls & yotes.
Very peaceful.....................
