Gang, was in Wal*M*** the other day, and found a blow out sale on fatwood. $2.00 for a pack that had 20-25 pieces 8" long or so.
Great deal. In our store, it was down between the toys and pharmacy area, where they normally have clearance items (like kerosene related items, winters stuff, etc.)
Good luck.
p.s. why do they look at people wierd when you buy 10 packs of this stuff??

Home Depot had it on sale too about a week ago. IIRC, it was $2.50 for a 4 lb. bag.

Hi guys,

WHY is it that you guys get everything that cheap??

I have to pay $5 in Holland to get 8 pieces of Maya-wood 8" long and 4 pieces are "thick" and 4 pieces are "thin".

So it's not only the Hamburgers, Icecream cones and meals that are size "extremely large and cheap" but also the Maya-wood

Hey Guys,

The FatWood that I've seen has just been thin pieces of sapwood.
The MayaWood that Bagheera sent me was totally resin-impregnated ... waterproof and burns HOT!
Is your stuff the same, or different?

Bagheera, in my case, has to be dumb luck... lol. (hey, did you get my note about the Delta lighter?)

I haven't tested this stuff. I will this weekend and let you know.

Actualy the mix was about 60-40 thin to thick. the thick were about the size of what Bagheera includes with the Firestrike.

Publix grocery store sells "fatwood", where they sell the matches and lighter fluids and such.

The wood is approx. 12" long, maybe 1/2" thick.. probably 20-20 pieces or so.

Or you can just go down to middle Georgia, kick apart a few rotten logs lying on the ground, and have pieces of fatwood that're 5-6" thick and 6-7 feet long

I have purchased it at Eagle/Lowes in the past, in a 4 lb bag marketed by Degen. But, while it had an acceptable resin content, it was a bit less than...

Northwood offers a bundle, I found some at Kmart, and bought all I could find. Very packed with resin.

If you do a search for the words fatwood, you can find a couple companies who offer it.

Just went to Wal Mart and they had 6 bags left in the fireplace section which I scarffed up @ 2 bags for $1.00.
Got home and broke one in two pieces and lit it with a piece of cotton and it burned for about 10 min. in a small stainless steel tray.

The brand I picked up in Home Depot is Uniflame. I can't tell from appearances if it has the same resin content as what Bagheera sent out but it worked just the same. A small pile of shavings from a stick ignited readily with sparks from the steel.
