Faulty Spyderco mechanism(not the knives, me)

I think there is something wrong with me. I am a fan of a lot of different style of knives, but it is safe to say that Spyderco is large amongst the pack. I have spent time with a lot of them. But ever since getting my hands on a G-10 Delica, Things just kind of stopped...dead. Every Spyderco knife that i have handled, used and spent time with gets compared to my Delica. Here's the thing...they always come up wanting. Now, of course, this is in a certain size category. From the Para to the Caly, to the Sage, to the Tenacious, and on and on, they make me miss my Delica. Better steel, better ergonomics, hell, maybe even better blade design but in the end, it's got to be the Delica. Nothing else feels as perfect in my hand. I think that's weird. BTW In the larger Category, the only Spyderco that i have truly loved...and i mean it just screamed perfection in hand, and no other has quite come to that point is the Stretch II. Anyway, just some random musings on why it is i can't seem to let go of my Delica dammit.

I don't see anything wrong with your love for the Delica. That's the point of all the different knives Spyderco makes - there has to be one of the bunch that really calls out to the individual.

I just ordered my first Delica recently and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I love my Ladybug and Salt 1, so I think the D4 will be my favorite knife as well once I start to EDC it.

I'm not being terribly serious or anything, but i do feel that way about the Delica. All the other super cool(and i mean that literally) models just can't seem to unseat it.

It sounds like you just found your "standard" of what a folding knife should be.

I found mine a few years ago, but it took a time to decide it was my "standard" - I kept putting it in the daily EDC rotation.

Congrats!

Sounds like you reached knifevana, although on a seemingly plain jane knife. Nothing wrong with having a knife that you just feel is right for you, most people can't find that.

The Delica is an outstanding knife, I totally agree. I can't wait for a funky (ORANGE!) colored FRN FFG version. At that point I will get another Endura too (though they always felt a little too big for me.)

Same thing happened to me with the BG-42 CF Military. Every knife gets compared to it and so far it keeps topping them all. Bit of a bully that way the Mili

The Waved Delica D4 is pretty much favorite for SD tasks and low profile carry. Got the Endura E4 waved too but the Delica is just right :D
