faux ivory from bone

Not if you know what ivory looks like.
Bleached bone resembles ivory from a distance.

They are both white-ish yellow from a distance, like Bill says.
Cow bone does make a nice knife handle though.
Just not "high tone" as ivory or "bullet proof" as micarta.

IIRC back in the Sheffield heyday they called cow bone "French Ivory"
(& nickel silver "German Silver")
 
thank you both so much i may just stick with bone then
just curious is micarta hard to make i have heard it is easy but time consuming to its so hard there is no point in trying
 
You can buy white paper Micarta from the knifemakers' supply houses.
