I am a fan of the Buck 110, but have never seen any of the customized 110s from the Buck Custom Knife Shoppe. I plan on ordering one and could use some recommendations regarding your favorites, as well opinions as to which combinations look and work the best. As you know, options include the following:

Blade type (BG-42, ATS-34, etc.)
Handle material
Fingergrooves
Rivets
Brass or Nickle bolsters
Sheath type

Apologies if this question has been covered before. Also, I know these choices are personal, that there's no "right" choice, but suspect that there are some great combinations out there that many would agree on. Thanks.

If you go to the custom shop, you can interchange all that stuff to see the combos....I ordered a Damascus blade with silver bolsters and
Sambar stag...no rivets....pertty cool combo, black and silver. peace, John

I have knives in all the Bos steels (S30V, BG-42, ATS-34 and 420C) and my favorite is BG-42... I think it takes and holds the best edge. I also think some the nicest custom shop 110's use Asain Waterbuffalo with finger grooves.... but that is just my .02.

I'm glad the custom shop is back open... and now let's start hitting them again to offer the 112 there as well.

ps. While I'm wishing I would love to see Micarta as a scale option as well.

My favorite is the Damascus. It may not be available yet. I also have one with BG42, and a reblade in ATS 34. I couldnt afford stag 'and' Damascus, but any combo with stag would look great.

The Custom Shoppe web site shows Damascus as available. I just ordered one with Damascus, stag (no rivets), nickel bolsters, and finger grooves. :D

Sambar stag
BG-42 blade
nickel bolsters
black traditional sheath

simply an awesome ensemble... :D

I do not own a custom buck, however I was messin around with thier custom shope knife builder and my favoite combos were... the black oxide blade with asian waterbuffalo with finger grooves, brass bolsters, no rivets.

#2 damascus with sambar stag, nickle bolsters, no rivets and maybe finger grooves

I have all the steels they've offered :D I think they do a good job on all of them but the S30V, ATS34 and BG42 will hold an edge longer. I have stag, buff horn, bone, wood, micarta and elk. I currently have about 50 or so in my collection. :D

Have about half as many as you Scott and love 'em all,'cept one that bites more than any knife I've ever owned, anywho, all I'd want is a blade swap for one of the better BG42 blades. :D

well i vote for G10 scales / BG 42 / nickel silver bolsters...
so there...
wate tell the drop point 110 / nickel / stag comes out!!

I'm actually thinking about getting one with BG-42, sambar stag scales but with brass bolsters. I think last year's collector's club offering was made with brass bolsters by mistake and several members indicated they liked it. I'm thinking it would be much warmer looking. Anybody have any first hand experience?

Yeah buddy, :D I love em all too and BG42 is nice. I'd get the swap if I were you.
Mike, I have a stock brass bolstered 110 I had rehandled with stag. I think stag and brass compliment each other.
