Just wanted to share my favorite three. I went ahead and removed the Teflon coating that came with the knives because, after much use, the knives started looking abused and ugly. At the top is my Cold Steel SRK, which is AUS 8A steel. Cold Steel's AUS 8A steel is above par compared to other AUS 8A knives in my opinion.

In the middle is my Ontario RAT 5, another tough knife made out of 1095 high carbon steel. You can't go wrong with a good 1095 blade. As long as you maintain it, it will last forever.

Finally, at the bottom is my Ka-Bar Warthog, also made out of 1095 high carbon steel. Again, another really tough blade. These three blades go everywhere with me.

I'm not one who only buys knives from a certain manufacturer. If I hear good things about the knife, I'll get one. Enjoy!

I really oughta try a 1095 knife one of these days.

Knice knives, man

I agree with you on CS's AUS8A. Vacuum heat treating and cryo-quenching sound like marketing ploys the way Cold Steel mentions them, but they really do make a huge difference.

I also have a RAT/ESEE knife, the RC-4. I bought it a year ago, but haven't used it much. I'm being a bit too protective; I really need to start using it. Maybe this year. Great looking knife! I know the new ESEE RC-5 is out. I'm thinking about getting one, but I already have a fat knife, the Becker BK-2.
