What is your favorite "after-market" watch-band or strap?

Mine WAS the Luminox nylon/velcro strap, until I received the "Waterborne Dive Strap" a couple of days ago. Eventho it has a buckle rather than the (quicker to put on) velcro, it is one GREAT (and very secure) nylon strap.:).

NOTE: The one I have has stainless "fittings", rather than the black ones shown in the picture.

I like the basic NATO strap...the one you showed is like the nylon NATO on steroids :)

I think I'm with John on this one.

I've had a Waterborne strap for about four years now, and it's quite possibly the single most secure watch band I've ever seen. For the ultimate "failure is not an option" 24mm band, this one is a good bet, and worth every penny. At the same time, however, the Waterborne band is large and maybe even a little bit cumbersome, for lack of a better word.

A simple black nylon NATO band, on the other hand, offers a very good level of security (certainly appropriate for all but the most strenuous activities), and has a neater, cleaner and more streamlined look to boot, IMHO.

So, if I'm HALO jumping into Class V rapids, I wouldn't want to be caught dead without my Waterborne. But for most other activities, the NATO seems to do just fine. ;)

Where can I find the NATO watchband at? Is it available to fit watches with 20mm posts?

Jedi,
I've seen the NATO bands offered in widths from 18mm up to 22mm. You can also find them in slate gray as well as black (and occasionally even with stripes). I'd recommend shooting an email to Howard Marx who often has them in stock:

hmpsystems@earthlink.net

For our European forumites, I believe Eddie Platts also stocks these from time to time:

Thanks for the info, Bronco and Glockman. I'm considering one of the NATO bands for my field watch.

Waterborne!!!

4 years - running strong. Unfortunatly my G-shock just died, but hey! Now I have an excuse to get another :toy" :D

Just for the record, there are some minor differences between the U.S. military nylon bands as featured on the broadarrow site, and the actual NATO bands that are carried by some others. To see a pic of the true NATO style bands you can click here:

Bronco,

I see that you are correct. They ARE different.

I have a question, RE: The "Waterborne Dive Strap"...What is the set of 2 rings used for that are on the other end of the band from the buckle? (I SURE wish this band would have come with instructions of some sort, and the pictures at the "web-site" aren't much help...).

Looking at my watch, it looks loke the two rings have a retention purpose to keep the watch from sliding around on the band, and give the band yet another space to pass through for strength.

This is the strap which held my Luminox.
(Now if only that were my watch.)

MUCH more comfortable than the Luninox rubber strap and much more adjustable.
That Luminox strap was way too huge for my wrist.

Dann,
To be perfectly honest with you, I haven't a clue. I think Javahed is on the right track with his response, but I still can't figure out why the need for two rings at that location. It seems as if one would do just as well.

I definitely agree that a set of brief instructions would complement that product very well.
