I'd love to hear what you bladeforum folks favor among the big bowies, either custom or factory produced. Pics welcome!

Very nice -- not currently in production? What model is it and what are the specs? Is it one of the Carbon V blades?

This one is a one off custom piece. It was originally a recon scout with the Carbon V steel but it recieved some damage while in Iraq in the form of a bullet.

It was then sent back stateside to a friend of the marine who tried to correct the damage but being beyond his skills at the time it was sent out to a great pimper by the name of Bill Yester who reshaped the blade and guard and put on the new Pakawood handles. Unfortunately the marine this knife belonged too is no longer with us and through a serious of fortunate events it came to me.

It is a real honor for me to have this blade.

I'd have to go with this one.

I liked the Camillus OVB bowies that were around a few years ago. They were very nice and had excellent fit/finish. I don't currently have a bowie but have ordered one from Ray Laconico. You can find him over in the makers forum's and the bowie's he makes, well everything he makes, are some of the cleanest knives I've seen! I can't wait for the bowie I have coming!!:thumbup::D

Not exactly a bowie, but a big custom with a modified clip point from David Wegner.

Wow great customs and the best CS I have ever seen. I have always loved the Price spear point with ivory handle. I will post a pic later.

My favourite bowie I own is definitly my Scrapyard Dogfather LE. I bought the original Scrapyard bowie and did not like it at all. It was a fine chopper but was clumsy and felt dead in the hand. The DFLE has a thinner Full height grind that shaves 4 ounces off and makes for as close as you can get to a comp bowie as you can get in a production knife.
It is not as lively as a Gambler but is a huge improv4mnt and is also just as good at the chopping. The ugly RES C handle is probably the best material for this kind of knife because it is secure tough and absorbs some shock.

Anyone who wants a nice bowie for as cheap as possible needs to check out the Browning Barker comp bowie. It is 1085 steel and a micarta handle ,a great design and even a decent sheath for 150$.

A Strider is much more like a Z06 Vette or Unimog than an enzo.

The smaller old bowie next to the Rose on the book ,what is it?

Not much, cant find to many places around here to shoot it. So I just had it engraved and basically keep it in my safe. The gun only has around 10 rounds through it. I am keeping it in case of a bear attack:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes.
Does anyone know that it was just banned in Boston, because a case was found by a murdered body. I might be simple, but it would require a person to open the cylinder to eject the casings:jerkit:.

With the engraving it must be a real beauty.

I've shot a friends S&W 500 mag, but with the light loads and 330 grain lead bullets. It's really nice with those loads. Very accurate too. But I wouldn't think it would
the first choce of some guy out to make a hit. Doesn't seem like the ideal tool for the job. The anti gunners in Boston will find any excuse to ban a gun. Even if an excuse has to be manufactured.

My own favorite Bowie- Ish knife I own. Busse Battle Mistress Le. 10 inch blade. It has an unsharpened top clip added. Pic is compared to a Cold Steel Trailmaster bowie for size comparison.

Something about this bowie from www.szaboinc.com always catches my eye. Big bellied, sharp and pointy, and with a large sharpened top clip. Big finger/knuckle guard, and the down turned handle.

Of course there are literally thousands of custom bowies out there I love.

Try Shooting the Winchester 400 platinum tip, those are the most powerful rounds for the gun, with 2877 ft-lbs of energy. However they run about 60 bucks for 20 rounds, so its not cheap. Hell before we know it the entire country is going to be like Kalifornia with all of its laws against everything, I think even theres a law on how sharp a pencil can be.
