CPM-S30V is my favorite steel right now what’s yours?

Elmax, M390, and CPM CruWear are some of my favorites. No particular order as I like them for different platforms. I wish I had more knives in Elmax and CruWear, but with the ones I have I'm happy with their performance.

My dream is to get a badass single blade slipjoint running CruWear. Now that would be incredible.

O-1 High Carbon
O-1 is a high carbon, oil hardening tool steel. Popular with custom knife makers it is used both for stock removal and forged knives around the world. With the proper heat treatment it will take and hold a very fine edge while remaining very tough and durable. An ideal high carbon steel for tough edged weapons

ZDP-189. It's all I carry at the moment. I'm also a fan of the m390 family, 154cm, d2, s90v and s110v.

52100, M4 and Maxamet
S30V, HAP40, ZDP, 154CM
and soon TOKU2.

H1 and LC200N for the water.

I like too many blade steels to list. I don't have a favorite. I like to try many types of steel. That's why I'm thankful spyderco have so many options.

The steel types I dislike the most are low edge retention and constantly re sharpening. 8cr13mov, 440a/b/c, 420hc etc mostly Chinese budget brands that are generally not good quality. Granted not everyone needs or can afford superior steel... I've wasted enough money on budget knives to know they aren't worth it for me.

My two favorites I would say are 14c28n and s110v. I love S110v's crazy long edge retention as well as it's high corrosion resistance. With 14c28n you also get great corrosion resistance along with easy sharpening and moderate edge retention. One important thing to me is corrosion resistance, I like when a steel won't rust if I don't wipe it down with oil at the end of the day.

Elmax is my favorite but for an all around best bang for your buck it's D2. I used to hate D2 until I learned how to sharpen it now I love it!

Nice love the grizzly ridge great ergos. Favorites eh S30V s35vn and Elmax that's 60-62 HRC. Sandvik 14C28N is currently under testing. Love traditionals too so Böker's C75 would be my favorite but Case's CV is nice too

1095 or its cousins works for me.
D2 in the pocket.
Otherwise, AUS8 etc is good enough for me.

Tough list: M390 and its close brothers, Maxamet, CTS-XHP, Vanadis 4E Superclean, M4, S90V.
There are plenty of other good steels listed, but we all have our favorites.

Stainless $$$: Elmax, 20cv
Stainless $$: CTS-XHP, Sandvik 14c28n
Stainless $: Buck 420HC
Tool steels: D2, 52100/SR101
Carbon steels: 1075, 1095

If I ever went to a custom maker for a knife (folder or small fixed), I would gladly ask for XHP. IMO, it is the steel we deserve, but probably don't need right now.

Now for an over the top and stupidly complicated analogy.

If knife steels were the Dark Knight Trilogy:
Batman Begins- D2
The Dark Knight- XHP
The Dark Knight Rises- S110V (Not everyone is a fan, but it is good)
