Title says it all, I love Bloody Mary`s, so if you have a good recipe for them, post it! I normally just use the Zing Zang mix for convenience.

I use Demitri's mix with extra horseradish and pepper vodka. Hmmm, I guess I like them hot.:D

The basics are all pretty similar (some tomato based juice, lemon and lime juice, hot sauce and/or horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper). I like to add crushed celery seed in the mix, and as garnish I like a fresh piece of celery, a spicy pickled green bean, and a spear of cucumber...for those who like tequila, it can be nicely interchanged with vodka.

I like to use Clamato juice and chipotle Tobasco for mine, other than that my recipe is fairly standard. I do, however, like to include a beef stick and okra pickled with smoked paprika (among many other things) as a garnish. Oh, almost forgot, anchovy or garlic stuffed olives do very well.

I was a bartender for ten years. We used to mix up five gallon batches from scratch every other day. The recipe was a tasty one and our Bloody Marys were very popular.
That said, Zing Zang is all I use now. It is a damn fine production mix.

If I can dig up the old recipe, I will post it.

Zing Zang 3 parts
Vodka your choice 1 part
dash of A1 steak sauce
2 olives
teaspoon olive juice
Cracked pepper!

Zing zang, couple of olives, two thick cut fried bacon strips. I mix mine fairly weak, but do like a neutral vodka of higher proof.

I don't know the recipe, but the Hash House A GoGo makes a mean BM, they have a couple of varieties -

I like the "house" variety, it is spicy and has a great flavor and a lot of vodka!

They also have a BLT version which is also good.

I think there is a Hash House in the Chicagoland area - not sure where though, I always go to the one in Vegas.

best

I've tried to like Bloody's for a long time. it hadn't gone well. then, i tried the Zing Zang....pretty good. i add some spice and i always stir with a piece of bacon.

Fowles of Newburyport, MA has the best i've had. though, they're not fowles anymore (for those that may care). can't remember what they're called. it's the new place that i had them at, though. real good. i could drink them. ;)

with all that said, i still prefer a beer for breakfast.

My favorite Rum in a Bloody Mary is made with Ron Abuelo 12 year old Rum and it is smooth ~ mellow ~ and taste like it came from above.! I got 3 Bottles of it and as of yet it has not been on the Market but I have a friend way up the Ladder who got mine for me @ $150.00 a bottle.! { Story he told me was that they are only going to only have 400 or 500 Cases of this and when it is gone it is gone forever and from the Golden taste of this there is no other Wine to match it as far as I know.! }
I like my Mary with a splash of Lemon and a shake or two of Franks Hot Sauce ~~ but it is better with only just Rum and good Tomato Juice or even V-8 Juice if you have to.!**

You do rum in bloody? Interesting. i don't think i've ever tried that. my favorite booze is rum though, so maybe i should give it a shot.

I have never tried a Bloody Mary before. May have to try one some time.

If I know you, I'd say you will give it several shots.:D

I really like Bloody Mary's. So many options and things you can put in there. My "go-to" is Zing Zang as a base, add some horseradish, fresh ground pepper, celery salt and a couple dashes of hot sauce. For spirits I use mainly vodka with a splash of tequila. Garnish with pretty much anything, celery, dilly beans, pickles, any cured meat of your choice.

Mix, ice, shake...repeat as necessary!

Also, there was a mix produced locally here around the Chicago-area called Uncle Dougie's Torpedo Juice. I haven't seen it in a while but it was outstanding and really needed very little tweaking.
