Over the years Buck has produced some amazing knives, especially in the fixed blade department. I've had the opportunity to experience just a few of them, like in all things there is usually a favorite. I've played with the, 119, 102, 103, and 105. I even have one of their chinese skinners they did for Rocky Mountain Elk.

But my clear cut favorite is the 102, it fits my hand perfectly and is a great little big knife. The size is were it's at for me on this knife, it's big enough for deer and other big game, yet it's a perfect trout knife. I feel that it's actually a better skinning knife the the 103, I'm very pleased with the way it's handle the things I've thrown at it.

Here's a pic of my cocobolo 102 with my dads phenolic.

The later 121s with the slightly thicker blade are about the most useful all-around carrying knife I have found.

The early ones with the thin blade are great fillet knives.

There are many variations of this knife available, so it's complex and interesting to the collector.

Of course, with the old Bucks......it's darn hard to have any one favorite!!

:)

My favorite BUCK fixed blade would go to the 118. I have an older two line that has the flap sheathe and preferred carry is to open the flap insert the knife sheath through the hammer loop and into my tool pocket on the left leg then close the flap. If terrain is brushy use a carabineer to go between the hammer loop and sheathe loop. Just a perfect shape do all knife for me.
Bob.

Thought you might enjoy looking at this one, Johnny.

Looks new......but it's old.

All very nice. My favorite fixed blade Buck is with out a doubt the 124 Frontiersman. Size, design and materials are all just what I want in a serious business fixed blade.

BG, both of those knives are beautiful, especially that 102.
It reminds me of a 102 my uncle bought while he was in Colorado, I guess he used it for skinning coyotes and such, for some quick cash. He really seems proud of his 102 and it's stories.

Thanks again

Another rare one that's close to being my favorite.

This is a 120. This is Idaho stamped and only about 200 were made of this particular model with the Idaho stamp. The 120 is my favorite BIG knife because it has the length and blade shape that gives it good balance. It doesn't handle like a meat cleaver like some big knives.

Pardon the .44 Magnum.

;)

It's a tuff choice but the Alaskan Guide Vanguard is my favorite.

Sentimental favorite is the 116 Caper because it is mostly responsible for my accumulating.

Love the 119 and have a growing appreciation for the new 113 although I'd like it to be a shade longer in the handle.

My favorite fixed blasde is the new gen 5 skinner,I know i love the 119,and the 103 also, but this lirttle gen 5 is perfect for everything, even kitchen chores at the camp .

Buck 107 for me, I had 2, 1 NIB that I sold on Ebay, (wish I'd kept it) and the other one is sun bleached and shows signs of use from danglin from the front of my hikin'pack, it's seen many miles and some great times, to me it was worth more than what I got for the NIB one.

I'll post a pic after I dig it outta my Box-O-Fixed Blades.:)

The best bang for you're BUCK is the PAKLITE SKINNER!

I pretty much like them all, but since I don't hunt, it's an esthetics thing with me. Just about the only ones that get any real use are the 102 and 119. The little 102 is great for cleaning trout and the 119 I use in the kitchen for carving and trimming meat. My favorite one just to look at though would have to be one of these.
