Hey all, I'm fairly new to Busse/kin and was wondering what's everyone's preferred knife for field dressing is. I would like something with Infi, because I like the added corrosion resistance it has over SR101. Pictures would be great. Thanks!

I use a Game Warden and a SAR 3. Both perform exceptionally well!

I've used the Game Warden and Active Duty, but kept going back to the SR101 for its better edge retention.

I'm a big fan of Infi, but I use my Scrapmax for field dressing. I like the thin elmax blade and resiprene handle.
Picture is from last year, I used the same knife on my son's buck this year, but didn't get pics.

IMHO Nessmuk. (middle knife) They also pop up in the exchange for surprisingly low prices for some reason I can't quite fathom. Fantastic "small" Busse.

I love my choilless BJLE for dressing. Plenty of oomph to split the ribs and pelvic bone if necessary.

CABS for skinning and such.

Cultie for me. It has more of a rounded nose than most of the others. Especially, skinning and cutting out the backstrap ...the cultie rolls down the spine where the AD and some others stick into each vertebra, or through the hide.

Its also small and light enough to keep in hand when using both hands on the hide. Its also small enough to be very controllable when other fingers are in close proximity and your working many times by feel alone.

Disclaimer I havent used some of the newer knives in last couple years. THe basic 4, and scarpmax 375 & 460 look great for most of the task. De-boning the ham/hindquarter would be easier done with cultie though due to its shallow blade height. Its harder for the b4 to get around the corners.;):D

THe CABS le and BJ le without choils are also good choices IMO due to shallow blade height. Then its always nice to have a range of knives in your field kit;):D

My CABS has not gone hunting yet, but that's the one I'd choose for processing deer or hogs.

Ah the Cultie! I had forgotten about that one till KH mentioned it! I used mine quite a lot in processing, mine has the thicker black canvas micarta handles. The Cultie had the higher heat treat iirc, KH can confirm this if I am wrong? Like the BAD's did.

This sure improves the edge retention on a dedicated slicer like the Cultie. It was still a little behind the Swamps SR101 but very close second. The Game Warden and standard Active Duty just could not keep up with it. :)

Also the price on these little gems is very good for what you get, very underrated piece of Busse history.

SCABS and Mean Street so far. Hoping I get to use my Ann. Mean Street this year.

Been using the same active duty for years now and love it. I am going to try out a AMS this year if everything goes right.

I really like the nessmuk, active duty and the scrapmax. Thinking of picking up the scrapmax first, because of its awesome price, but which one should I get? Ill probably eventually get the active duty, but can I still get it from Busse directly? Just saw a few pics of the sar 4, and that is a sweet looking knife. Ill probably try to get one of those too... I need a second job...

I'm quite fond of using my leaner meaner, it has worked quite well for me so far :cool:
