Favorite Coating?

What's your favorite coating and why? A while back I wasn't real fond of any of them...when the black crinkle first came out there seemed to be a real issue of it flaking off, the strongest of them seemed to be the desert tan which held up to beatings better than the black by a long shot. But now, all of em seem to be as good as the old tan if not better. My current favorite is the green. Pictures I've seen of users and my own experience is that the current coatings just seem to "smear" and don't flake at all. Hell the harder you use the knife it just seems to me that the coating gets tougher to come off. From my experience it appears that the less "crinkle" there is in the coating the tougher it is. Jerry has come a long way with his finishes, I truely think he's got it down rock solid. Don't know of anyone out there who has anything that compares!

I've got a soft spot for all things Desert Olive (Sage). Actually, more of an OCD thing where sage MUST be purchased!

I abhore all coatings and bead blasting. If I had to have a coating though, I'd opt for the black, smooth coating used on the oldest Busses.

I like the way the muddy has worn on some of my knives. I also like the olive drab and sage.

As far as looks go I went mad over OD Busse blades when I first saw them. Still like the looks of them, but my CGFBM in OD peeled horrendously, so I'm not such a fan of it for practical purposes. Not sure if it was a fluke or not. I really like muddy as well. And the recent pic that Lunde posted on the Swamp Rat subforum of the tan/sage Chopweiler is sweet. And who could resist basic black. Guess they all have their place. The camo patterns are cool as well.

I like OD coating best, but tan looks also great in reality - much better than on most of the pics.

Not really a fan of any ... mostly focusing on satin blades these days. If I had to choose one I'd take black though. Once the competition grade comes out it'll be that and satin :)

The smooth black on my ZTBM has aged well. I like the Urban Grey the best for looks YMMV.

I really, really like the DC finish, but coating wise, the Sage and OD seem to be my favorite. Didn't like the OD that much, but it has been REALLY growing on me as of late...

I prefer the camo coatings since if you're gonna coat the blade you might as well have some fun with it. In plain colors I like OD best; the OD is less crinkly than some of the other colors.

I'll take bead blast over coating any day...especially for a user. :) I like the look of the satin finishes and will probably order future knives with that or bead blast. Coating in my experience when it comes to knives used daily etc don't tend to last long with hard use.

Now I can't speak for Busse coatings in particular seeing I JUST bought my first in the guise of a BATAC.

I've always liked OD best. Recently the Muddy finish has become a close second.

Got a love it

None. If I had to pick one it would be smmooooth black original.

+1. Altho I've got an affinity for Muddy, I don't want to use my Muddy knives b/c I'd wear the coating.

I need help.

Oh, and I LOVE other folks' users. LOVE EM! I've got a FSH that someone stripped and sorta-sanded. What a cool blade. No concern of anything wearing at all. It looks great already!

On certain knives, the black looks VERY classy. When the CGASH1's come out, I'll grab one in black just b/cuz.
