Hey,

I was wondering what everyone's favorite knife logo is. You know what I mean, Benchmade's butterfly, the custom maker's name on the blade.

I don't know if it is just me and I feel like kind of an ass but I really don't like large logo's on the knife blade. I dislike large names/symbols that take up too much of the blade. To me they seem to take attention off the knife and ruin some of its flavor. Don't get me wrong, I think custom makers have a right to put their logos on their knives and I like to show off who my work is by, but some logos just don't appeal to me.

Does anyone have this issue? Not liking big logos or names on the knife? Going as far as to not buy a knife because of a logo? I'm a fan of small names off the blade and closer to the handle as well as interesting symbols. Like the Benchmade butterfly, for example.

Any pictures of your favorite logo? Please share.

I always have liked Al Mar's name and logo on the knife it's done tastefully I think, The BM butterfly looks good also. The best logo ever on anything though is HnK's logo that red HK logo on shirts and hats is sweet, can't beat the guns either.

The top two in my book are Trace's diamond and I believe it is Steve Ryan who has the biohazard symbol.

Chris Reeves simple circular "CR" on the handle instead of the blade is classy.

I like Will Leavitt's old one... simple WL engraved by hand...

Tichbourne is simple... name and a maple leaf(he's got my h7 for sheath work or I'd get a pic)... Acid etch.

LHK(Ron Leuschen, Little Hen Knives), is simple yet easily recognized. LHK over CAN, line with a star between em). Smaller than my thumbnail, and stamped in.

I really like the symbol thing.
Terzuola's is cool, as is Howard Viele's.
The really cool thing about China is that all names are going to be symbols somehow, having said that I like Bob Lum's as well.

The great Loveless one.. with the nude woman laying down.. on the reverse of the blade, the logo is reversed so you can see her rear end. Just appeals to me for some reason.

Here's another vote for the CRK logo. It's understated and elegant just like the knives on which it appears.

First, I'll agree with the "oversized logos are shlocky" sentiment. If I see too much print on a knifeblade, I can't help but think of those cheap and cheesey "bad-a$$ wannabee" knives from Frost and/or United. (Thank you so much Gil Hibben) That said, I could probably list a bunch of appealing logos, but these are the first to come to mind:

Trace's diamond
Ryan's biohazard
Clyde Fisher's fish
Al Mar
Jot Khalsa

There's something to be said for the simplicity of just the maker's name stamped or etched in the ricasso, too. And, speaking of Loveless, it's amazing how many makers have adopted a "football" shaped logo similar to the one he used.

Here are a few of my favorites: Ryan Biohazard, Blackwood Gargoyle, Strider FWP, and Marlowe's Turtle.

For me its gotta be Bailey Bradshaw's logo. Simple, elegant, and to the point. Kinda reminds me of Albrecht Durer's logo when he signed his engravings.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Oh, and there IS the Spyderco bug... :p

I'm very fond of the compact Busse Custom Shop logo. Not crazy about the current production line or horizontal Custom Shop logos, but the compact one really appeals to me.

That's an easy choice for me Darrel Ralph's logo...

because I designed it. :D

I've done a lot of graphics work for folks on this forum, but this is probably what I'm most proud of.
