After selling a couple of my smaller knives as well as one of my tennis racquets, I've got $127 max to spend on a quality EDC knife to carry around my suburban/small city area.

What is your favorite EDC folder that can be had new for that cost or less?

At one time I was trying to stretch my budget to get a Civivi Appalachian Drifter with Damascus, but now that I'm able to up my money a bit more, I'm wondering if I'd like something better - the one that really catches my eye now is the Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight with black handle and black blade.

Anyway, I appreciate your input.

I like your choice. The Para 3 LW is hard to beat for the price.

The Benchmade Mini Griptilian/Griptilian seems to be on sale at a lot of places right now, putting it's price right around that of a Para 3 LW. I like the sheepsfoot version. I also really like the Spyderco Chaparral LW in that price range.

I really like the new Spyderco Delica in 20CV that I just recently got from good ol' DLT Trading. Cool red and black FRN handle too!

I like the Native. There is no hump so it fits my hand better and I like back-locks more than compression locks. The Salt LC200N version is $130, I think it is the best in this price range. The one in Spy27 is $126 and the black blade in S35V is $122. I really like the Salt and the black bladed one with serrations.

Save 15/20 more dollars and go for a Bugout or Para3 g10

Small grip or mini Bugout are also nice options , Sam with native or manix lw.... but I would pick the full size Bugout or g10 para3 other these ones

I would take a lil native(compression lock) over a PM3 as the blade grind has more material. I would also take G10 over the FRN for cosmetic reasons.

Otherwise I like the Stretch pattern spydercos, the new straight splines are very much a FRN lockback PM2.

Lots of great knives at that price point now. Para 3 is a great place to start and if you dont mind the FRN handles, the FRN Chapparal and Benchmade Mini Grip and Bugout will serve just fine.

If you wanted to stay away from the plastic scales you still have some good options. The Massdrop/WE Gent is a great blade (S35 VN with Titanium liners and G-10 Scales) in that same vein you can get the Ferrum forge Stinger for 90$ right now sporting G-10 scales and Nitro V steel. If you wanted to go a bit bigger in size you can find light weight or even regular G-10 Spyderco Manix 2s now for well under 130$. As already mentioned there are several different Civivi models that are well under that price that bring good design, action, and materials to bear if you dont mind a liner lock and chinese made.

I don't have it in hand yet but I'm really excited to get my DLT Trading exculsive Finch 1929. Such a cool blend of traditional style with modern features. Within your price range too.

A range of Mini Griptilians in S30V are available under your price limit. The upgraded models with G10 scales and 20CV are substantially more but there could be some available in the used market that are closer to the cost of a new S30V version.

You can find them for around that used on the bay from time to time if you dont mind some careless scratches and resharpening. I just got an S30V full size with sheepsfoot blade for around $80 and threw it in some G-10 scales I had laying around. Great knives especially in the sheepsfoot configuration and well under the 127$ price point.
