Ok, for all the hunters here what is your favorite style of blade for field dressing? I prefer a drop point style blade, I like the control it offers.

To be honest, I'm not particular. I usually end up using either a Case Copperlock (clip point) or a Victorinox Hunter (spear point) that has an excellent gutting blade. My Bark River Woodland (drop-point, but just barely) also gets it's share of use.

As a boy, I learned to process all type of game with an old Case Trapper.

I never thought I would say this but the best hunting knife I've used in years is the Cold Steel Master Hunter. For the money I don't think it can be beat. I have Dozier skinners and other high dollar knives and when I do need a field dress or skinner blade for myself or to help out a neighbor with his game I find myself chosing the Cold Steel blade over all of them anymore. Go figure. Mine is a Carbon V model and I like that steel just fine anyway. It is even better in a package like the MH that is offered with a pretty good grip and a good guard on it so it is secure in the hand even when bloody and wet.

I learned to dress deer with an old 6332 Case Stockman.

But I prefer a drop or clip point blade. I can even get by with the big bellied ones like the Marbles Fieldcraft.

I like my Master hunter in Carbon V, and my Bandicoot as well.

I usually field dress deer with the Master Hunter or the Bandicoot, and use my Fieldcraft for skinning and processing.

A Loveless style drop point hunter.
I prefer a blade length of no more than
four inches. Four years ago, I started using the
Geno Denning GM model. We've dressed a bunch
of deer with them-(I have one; my hunting partner has one).

Before that, I used the Randall model 8. It worked fine too; but
it's now relegated to general use status.
