Any suggestions for a tactical looking folder around 200. Im looking at the al mar 2000 and the emerson cqc13. How strong are they and how do they preform. Also what do you guys like. What is your favorite modern folder? I got the best christmas present (money), and can now have any folder within reason.

Right now, if I had $200 and wanted another folder I would get the new Zero Tolerance 0500 framelock. Or if you want something bigger try the 0200.

Anything Emerson would be my pick for liner locks. They are strong enough for most tasks IMO.

My favorite modern folders: Emerson CQC-7, CQC-8 and CRK Sebenza.

Zero tolerance looks amazing, and even just regular kershaws are great, but they just don't look... elegant... The al mar looks beautiful, and the emerson looks ugly in a tough utilitarian way. I haven't handled a zt in person so I don't know. The only knives I could use to measure other folders up against are a spyderco military, a benchmade 710, and a kershaw blur. How do these other knives compare?

No, the Zero Tolerance is not elegant. I have a 0200, and I love it, but it is far from a gents knife. Sounds like you should look at the Bradley Alias 1

I think you would like the Benchmade 940. Nice all around edc. Good Luck. Kevin

Al Mars in general are amazingly well built, with great looks. If you like it I'd go with one, the sere is pretty tough. I just wouldn't want to scratch up such a beautiful knife, but thats why I went with Emerson, just ugly enough to beat the snot out of. And they get better looking the more scuffed up they get, like a good leather jacket.

can anyone get pictures of some of these knives with a bm 710, or a spyderco military, or a kershaw blur? I would really appreciate it, and it would give me a good size comparison. thanks guys
