Hey Guys,

What is your favorite GEC hunting folder, hunting fixed blade and outdoor folding knife?

Thanks,

Geoff

The 72 is probably my favourite hunting pattern. It was my gateway knife.

The H733 is pretty cool for a fixed blade. It desperately needs a less bulky sheath.

The folding outdoor knife I would give to the 42.

I think my favorite GEC is my 72LB clip point. Next would be my little 83LB, also in clip point. I have had lots of others, but those do it for me. I even have a little 35 right now, but it just doesn’t seem to fit me.

I don’t have a lot of experience with GEC, but I’m very fond of the 47 Viper.

I'm not interested at all in GEC's fixed blades. Their core competence is slipjoints, and they currenty hold the top spot. But fixed blades? Their offerings are nothing special, not to mention that there are many more makers and manufacturers to choose from.

I have a couple of GECs that I use outdoors. I carry a #53 Cuban Stockman in 440C stainless when deer hunting, and I use my #23 Pioneer Linerlock for trimming plants outside our house. For the actual skinning and butchering chores, I use custom fixed blades with better edge-holding steel.

The 65 and 42 lockback models in African Blackwood or Ebony. I'm hoping for a new batch sometime in the future but see no sign of it. I asked them in an e mail and they told me they had no plans.

I don't now nor ever had a GEC folding hunter but I always was partial to 15 and 77 frames but I have recently won a 66 from @supratentorial and a 78 gifted to me by @mrknife both I really like. As far as GEC fixed blades I have 2 H20's a drop point and a clip point that @mrknife gave me a couple of years ago I use for kitchen duty that are great. I guess I have an odd assortment that I use for kitchen duty here is a picture of them not all GEC a Buck 119, a Mora the two H20's and an Enzo necker. As I said a bit odd but they work well.

Been in my pocket at least in the evening and weekend (usually carry something else in slacks, unless they have the little watch pocket) for all but 4 days since December 15th..... still there.

The 72LB is my favorite as well. Are there any other GEC lockbacks this size or bigger?

I believe sticking to GEC the 42 is the biggest LB they produce, as blademan said. Could be wrong, others may chime in. They both handle well, and are lightweight.

image.jpeg In my eyes, pretty tough to beat the #23 & #73 trappers. Here is my #23 when new. As mentioned previously, this thing is a beast. And my #73 which just has "outdoor" written all over it.
