What are you guys favorite H1 Spydercos?

I think i will be purchasing one soonish as a carry knife for when i might get wet, dirty, slimed, or anything else that tends to come with teaching the youth kids at my church....they are a scheming bunch, and I couldn't be prouder....but back to topic I do end up wet or dirty a lot on the weekend (let the jokes begin [thank goodness this isnt w&c]) and i want a knife i don't have to worry about near as much as my sage 2.

So as disjointed as that was, want i am wanting is your advise on an easily carried H1 that performs well and looks good.

As always thanks for your help. (one of these days I will have owned enough knives to pass on sagely advise of my own but for now you guys are the best source of knife knowledge around)

The closest Salt series knife to your Sage, size- and shape-wise, would be the Salt 1, so it might be the easiest for you to transition to. My personal favorite is the SE Spyderhawk followed by the H-1 Mariner, but I believe the latter is discontinued, and the hawkbill is a bit more limited in what it works well for.

My favorite also happens to be the SE spyderhawk, fantastic knife, love it to death. Its uses are indeed limited, but its great for any sort of rope or cord, theres nothing better.

The ladybug hawkbill SE also happens to be a favorite for me, pretty much same design as the spyderhawk, just scaled down, but nifty for its size, and a good buy in my opinion.

I've had a Salt 1 SE for about 5 years now. Dang thing takes a lot of abuse. I work as a landscaper and use it for many things that it was not intended for. Nobody makes a pinned knife as solid as Spyderco.

SE Salt. I have had it for nearly a year. It has spent countless hours in salt water at Edisto Beach and goes on every dive or snorkeling trip in the river. It has never seen a drop of oil.

Sizewise the Salt probably comes closest to your Sage. Although it only comes with a serrated blade. The Pacific Salt also comes with a plain edge but it's a bit larger. If your in the market for a smaller EDC type blade I would suggest looking into the Dragonfly Salt. I've got one and I think it's the perfect size to have in your pocket at all times. Not as tiny as the Ladybug but also not as cumbersome as some larger models. But then I'm a girl and I already find the Endura a tad too large for my personal taste. You might love to wield something more serious :)

The Salt I does come with a PE blade and I have it in both black and yellow.
Can't decide which is my favorite but these are terrific for EDCing.
Enjoy!

I think that H1 is fantastic in a serrated edge - better than the plain edge. I have the Salt and Pacific in both plain and serrated. The plain edge doesn't seem to hold an edge as well as S30V or even VG10 but YMMV. The serrated edge holds better than any other serrated knife I've tried. (Delicas, Enduras and Paramilitary 1, etc.) I carry one when I run or am on the coast so I don't have to worry about sweat or salt water. I just wish Spyderco would make a a Delica in H1.

Yeah I rock a salt 1, and it is one of my favorite go to knives! H1 doesn't hold the best edge, but on the same token its not bad either. I'm just spoiled by S90V I guess. haha

BUT, I would definitely recommend the Salt 1. Its a bit smaller than the pac salt so it wont scare others...idk if u have a problem with that, but it will carry lighter than the sage.....but most likely it will handle similarly

The H-1 Spyderhawk is my favorite out of the Salt Series. I had always loved the original VG-10 Spyderhawk and when they made it in H-1 for the Salt series it really added spice to the Salt line up. The Tasman and the H-1 Mariner that was mentioned are tied for #2 because they are both extremely useful blades and I've used both of them extensively.

I'm still learning and experimenting a lot with H-1 steel and so far I really like it's properties and advantages it has in harsh environments. The entire H-1 line up is a Survivalist's Dream come true.

I just wish they would bring back the original Temperance 1, FB05 model in H-1 for an affordable super fixed blade. What spice that would add to the H-1 line up.

I like the SE Pacific Salt, Atlantic Salt, and Spyderhawk. I used to own a Tasman and Salt I but they were a bit small!

I love the PE Salt 1. A close second is the Atlantic Salt PE. Essentially, I would like to have both SE and PE Salt knives at my disposal while kayaking/fishing.
