Interested in seeing what the range is on this. For full axes of any kind, any purpose, what do you consider your favorite length? I had to divide it into 2" ranges because it wouldn't let me put quite enough slots for each to have its own, but feel free to say a specific length in the thread. Personally I find about 32" measured from the top of the eye to be my preference.

A17, if you have had or get the chance at one, try a ~3lb FE Connie. I've only had mine out for a few test runs, but it felt familiar... Then I realized that it's a really damn similar chopping experience to my 3.5lb FE Western db (both ground full nanners). They share that wide cutting edge and slim breadth :)

I'd love to get a FE connie, but this is taking up all my free $. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck, but the simple body and powertrain swap has turned into a full resto and my wallet is feeling the effects of that. Hopefully this fall I can get back to spending money on axes and gas for this when I hunt for axes .

I feel that those are the second best looking Ford P/U they made. after the '52. That's a mountain I wouldn't wish to climb. Besides axes are so much cheaper, and in a couple of day's you're finished. My weakness is old woodworking and machine tools. And a couple of '70s Merc outboards. And old woodworking hand tools. MMMM maybe I should have done old cars instead.

The wheelie vroom vroom things are cool, but I'm having a difficult time understanding how they're connected to a thread on handle length preference? :)

I'm 5'9" for reference. The seeming standard of 36" handles and scarcity of 32" perplexes me.

I dont see scarcity of 32" handles you speak of. Alot of the full size felling/bucking axes come with 32" handles and the sweedish boutique axes gransfors wetterlings hults etc. dont make but a few larger. Autine, john neeman other hand forged companys only have the 31.5 on the splitting maul

I found it more difficult to get a good longer full size quality axe, let alone finding it for a decent price. Thank goodness fiskars came out with the x27. Fiskars lacks a 32 inch axe but i would guess thats more related to the redundancy of axes vs the cost to add it in their process.

I also notice alot of makers claim 36inch but if you actually check its closer to 34.5. Alot of my old rafting axes had short handles on them from the factory 26-28 inch. Im a taller guy 6'4-6'6 depending on which gas station im leaving. So i prefer longer and usually if its a head i love i have to just hang it on a longer handle. I will also say that my council bad boys axe is a perfect size for campfire/camping duty though.

Seems that the only way to truly get what you want is rehaft or rehang on the length you like
