I would like to know what handle materials you like or prefer, users and makers. Other than stag. Also other handle treatments like fluting, lanyard holes, scale liners, etc. I guess everyone knows by now that my favorite is any type of bone.

I prefer G-10 and Micarta.

I haven't tried Carbon Fiber yet, but maybe I like that too.

What I definately do't like is natural materials like bone, stag, MOP, wood, etc.

For folders I like G-10...For fixed-blades I like canvas micarta (or maybe even the new "Gunner's Grip" G-10).

Hi David,

I like bone as well.

Favorite handle material for folders?

Gotta be roughed g-10, then g-10

Fixed: Any good hardwood with a nice grain pattern to it. Next best would be oosic, then stag.

I like metal handles (steel, titanium, aluminum).

I used to dislike FRN (or Zytel, Noryl GTX, ect) until I got a Benchmade Griptilian--now I'm happy with STEEL-LINED FRN.

But SS or titanium are still my very favorites.

G-10. Emerson has the best ergonomical G-10 handles I've ever come across. I don't own any Emersons though, just Benchmades.:)

SoftGrip rubber inserts are good. They're durable, they get some scuffing as on my Gerber, but it feels great.

natural handle material bone, or stag, even leather.. It just feels good in you hand...gotta me that caveman thing...

Ivory, bone, stag, carbon fiber, micarta G-10.

I like the last 3 for my working knives, and the first 3 for my safe queens (only work sometimes).

My favorite handle materials are mostly natural. Besides stag, Iike all the ivories (I like elephant ivory the best), Stellar sea cow, narwhal horn/tusk and woods, both stabilized and none stabilized. My favorite synthetic is Micarta, including paper, linen and canvas.

Well actually I like the leather handles on Randall knives. Yes, it's not the most durable/hard wear material but it feels good to me and I don't use the knives in extreme environs. I'll bet the leather handles will out last me.

I have three favorites. Which one I prefer varies depending on which knife I'm carrying at the time. :)

Titanium: should have some texturing for grip and anodizing for looks

Ironwood: nearly as tough as G-10 and always beautiful

G-10: almost any color but black

I LOVE cocobolo

as well as some RED sambar stag.....

i also like ironwood.... but i still go CRAZY for cocobolo

I prefer wooden slabs when they aren't polished ultra-smooth.
But I also like bone, bead-blasted G-10, carbon fiber, smooth micarta.
Looking forward to trying out a sheep's horn handle.

For looks I probably like Carbon Fiber the best.

For a knife that will see a lot of use my first choice is Micarta because of it's grippy properties when it gets wet and for overall durability, followed closely by textured G-10.
