Favorite handle scales?

What's your favorite handle scales and why? For me my favorite scales in terms of a more functional scale would be G10 and if it's G10 I would like it to have good grip. In terms of looks and more of a gentlemen kind of look would be anything with silver twill in lays (carbon fiber Is more sporty than gentlemen like in my opinion)

I love the feel of smooth metal on my skin, so I'd have to say smooth titanium handles are my favorite. I have no need for grip-improving texture on my handles, so I prefer to do without :)

Functional use? G10

To be classy? Smooth bone or carbon fiber

I can understand that I mean really all a knife needs is good ergonomics and that's all the grip you need but I don't know if I had a titanium knife I don't think I would like to use it that's just me

I just love carbon fiber. The look, the feel, the reduction in weight to a piece. I would say a close second for me would be maple burl. It looks fantastic, is unique with each piece and can also be dyed a multitude of colors for semi customization.

My favorite in hand is medium textured (or lightly corrugated [anso pattern]) G10, my favorite looking is non-smooth carbon fiber (specifically spyderco's twill weave).

Having said that my favorite knife, and the only one I've carried since I got it is my Knife Art CF Sebenza (smooth CF)

It's definitely not for everyone! I just really love how simple and clean it looks.

G10 is the strongest, I have did to some abuse test on G10 and linen micarta sheet the result is the G10 are much much stronger. At 2.5mm thickness I really cant broke it by hand.

If you looking for a nicer gent look go for CF but if you want something indestructible nothing beat G10.

Really depends on the knife. I generally dislike all metal handles, they are too slippery and get too cold in the frigid wasteland that is Chicago in the winter. CF scales on the GB look nice, but I'd prefer something more textured. Of all my folders, the one that fits my hand best is the CS Recon 1 and the Strider SnG. I really like the Spydie Nilakka handle as well. Most of my knives are G10, FRN or some other kind of plastickyness.

Orange peel ti, rayskin/cord wrap and wood (ironwood, cocobolo) are my favorites.

No real favorites.
My compact F3 has diamond textured and grooved Ti scales. My Division flipper has CF. My Large 21 has Gabon Ebony inlays.
Everything else I have has G10.

Rough micarta. Not too rough as it will produce hot spots but something with a good grip

I guess if how cold the handle is really bugs you it could be a problem. It being slippery, depends on which knife your holding, If it has nice finger indentations at least for the index finger, the handle being slippery really doesn't effect how the knife stays in my hand but I would agree with you if the handle has nothing but smooth edges and no indentations what so ever

Micarta or g 10 for durability
Wood for a fixed blade that will be used but not abused (desert ironwood and cocobolo are my favorites like an previous poster)

It depends on the knife and it's intended application. But, generally speaking, I like:
~ for general outdoor utility/woodcraft/bushcraft: beautiful wood (what kind is mostly aesthetic for me);
~ for survival/tactical/fighting: grippy synthetic (e.g., Kraton);
~ for general EDC pocket carry: light but functional (e.g., FRN);
~ for dress/gent folder: exotic (e.g., ivory, titanium, rare wood).

And I have to mention my least favorite: stainless steel.

For pure function - durability, comfort, grip, and low weight...I am a huge huge fan of the lowly FRN found on Spyderco knives.

For sheer beauty - nothing can beat the allure of a beautiful wood handle...my 2 favourites being spalted maple for it's unique patterns, and cocobolo for the richness of colour and tones.

G-10 beats all for my favorite, carbon fiber is close after that. After those two I dont really care but I guess well textured frn would be the next best option.

I've been on a canvas micarta kick lately, it's practical, and aesthetically pleasing. For me anyhow.
