Okay, Hats are gear too, very essential gear where I live actually. (Hot, dry, climate, state with one of the highest rates of skin cancer around etc.)
And I myself have a decent group of them...

So, just for kicks, I was wondering, what are y'alls favorite hats?
We all gotta at least have a hat we like better than others...

my fav hat right now is probably the OD green boonie I got at a gun show a couple weeks ago. Just a hat...but I like it, comfortable, provides a nice sun-shade, so on.

Altho my other two "favs" would be a gray leather English style Driving Cap (worn backwards, as is style with punk a$$ youth like myself ;) ) and a wide brimmed straw hat...just a hat..sorta fedora styled..except in straw.
And I am kinda partial to cowboy hats too...but I dont wear one often...they look funny with cargo pants, t-shirt and birkenstocks(or work boots)...

Winter hats...no real fav...just as long as it covers my ears....

And y'all?

Low crown ball cap, preferably fitted.

My latest "Most often worn" is a Strider Knives Brown ball cap with Black logo. Very stealthy:

I have one Stetson and two fur felt hats I had made at the Hat Closet in Nashville. All have been shaped to have that Fedora sort of look, but with a wider brim and a slight droop on all sides to keep as much sun off me as possible. Also have a Donegal herringbone tweed cap.

I too like the GI boonie hat, but recently i broke down and bought a Tilley for $55. I have been very happy with it.

For the ULTIMATE hats, check out...

They specialize in "period" hats from the 1700s through the early 1900s, but if there's something you want that you don't see on their site, email them and ask them. They do INCREDIBLE work, their hats are at least an "honest" 5X and in truth, closer to a 10x.

You'll have to carefully cut a "template" of your head and send it in to them, as they custom make the hat to fit YOUR head. I never knew how well a hat could fit until I got one of these!

They're totally impervious to water. They're not water proof, but they DO NOT lose their shape. (Having worn mine all day long in a driving thunderstorm, I know!) Their guarantee is incredible and they TRULY stand behind it! When I got my hat from them, I didn't have it 24 hours before my dogs got ahold of it and tore it to shreds. These fine folks, even after I explained exactly what happened,(I was going to just pay for a replacement) honored the guarantee and charged me only shipping to replace it!

If Fur felt hats are what you're looking for, these are the people to see!
(Pretty fast turn around time too!)

I have an olive Tilley T3 that I love. Got it replaced at half price after I lost my first one in CA. Great hat.

I also wear plain old baseball caps alot of the time. My favourite is a 10 year old Minnesota Timberwolves cap.

I probably own several hundred caps by now, but my favorite is a well-worn baseball cap from Breitling. Second place: my fitted, embroidered cap that declares "Pro Gun, Anti Crime".

I love my stetson and my black fedora, but, admittedly, I look ridiculous in both. The only hat that looks good on me is my Boston Red Socks cap. They finally made one in black!

This one is not my fav but it gets more attention than the others. :D

I'll second the vote for the Tilleys and not just because they are made in Canada ;)

They stand up to almost anything - damn near indestructible.

You have to see and wear one to truly appreciate it.

I'm not much of a hat person, but I do like this hat.

The hat's not "right" until I've worn one on a couple of camping/hunting trips and it has a permanent, yet faint, smell of smoke and sweat. Like the ad says, it does gain character with use.

It's tough to make out, but I'm wearing one in my avatar pic.

That is a great hat Chris...I have one...(but typically wear sleezy baseball caps) ....good value and very well made!

I'm a baseball cap kind of guy. I recently picked up a Carhartt baseball cap, and the construction quality is outstanding. It's meant to take serious punishment, just like Carhartt's other stuff. Great cap.

I got a Solarweave Booney Hat from Gemplers.com that I like a lot. It's very light and cool, which is what I need living in a hot-weather climate. I wore it for one weekend of hiking and it functioned great. However, when I got home I decided it needed a bath (as I'd sweated through it both days). It didn't hold up to the wash very well. In fact, I plan to return it for a replacement (they have a no-questions-asked return policy). All in all, it's not a GREAT hat. But if you need one that's light and cool and blocks out 99.1% of harmful UVB rays and 93.5% of UVA rays, you could do worse. Just make sure you wash it gently by hand.

Favorites:
USA Rugby baseball cap- Old Faithful, tried & true, baptized in beer & bodily fluids.
"Full Contact Poetry" Baseball cap- one-of-a-kind.
Naval Special Warfare Unit, Detachment Little Creek (w/ SEAL "Budweiser") baseball cap- found in Norfolk.

I love the tweed Irish Country hats, the untreated wool variety. I have one that I have worn in Washington, DC, winters since 1972, and it is still going strong. When it rains, the wool soaks up the ater and it becomes as stiff as a board, but then it sheds the water after that. It is warm and comfortable and it will settle into nearly any style that you like. This is hte style of hat that now retired Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan was to later make famous, but I was wearing mine long before he was to do so.

blue hat with spyderlogo on it. :D

love it.

There is a spyder on the front and a smaller one on the back side.
