Hello, again.,...
Sorry, if this topic has come up before, but I was wondering what shapes of holes have you had experience with and what do like?
Myself:
Buck Odessey..... Nice shape, but edge too sharp.
Gerber EZ OUT--- very good one of the better shapes, and rounded too.
Spyderco.----- It's okay, but not great.
SOG Jetedge.--- It's okay, not great. the edge is too sharp.

I was also wondering about the newer Junglee tactical folder with the triangular hole shape.

Doesn't the edges have to be sharp? Otherwise you don't get as good grip, do you?

If they could put my favorite hole on a knife, they would make a million easy.

I like the plain old round one myself.
Although I WOULD prefer it if Spyderco put a LITTLE less chamfer on the edge.
Not sharp, but not so angled either.

Interesting point..... For some knives, such as Spyderco this tends to work well, but for knives such as the SOG or the Odessy that I mentioned both sides of the hole taper so as you run you thumb up the hole as you are opening it, you get pinched. If you don't believe a rounded hole works well, take a look at the Gerber EZ out. This works very well, and I think the bead-blast finish might help to supply a little bit of a grip also.

I think the "bite" that is produced by the sharp edges of the hole in the buck odyssey is awesome!!

It is hands down the easiest "hole" knife to open.

I have noticed that some people with fat thumbs have trouble opening my Spydie rescue Jr. with stainless handles. Their thumb slips off. The Odyssey grabs on to you in just the right way. Makes slipping impossible.

I think that the odysee's hole is very good, actually. and I can always sand it down. That way were are both happy. I can't wait to get my hands on the NSX from Buck. Looks like a great knife. I hope it is easy to open.
