Well, we have a thread on favorite rifles already, here's something for the wingshooters.

What are your favorite smoothbore? It doesn't have to be something you own, just the top 3 most interesting gun to you.

1) A5 - That's the gun my uncled had when I was a kid and thought it was uber badass. From market hunters to invector choked mirukos. All interesting to me.

2) M12 - Love reading about the "perfect pump" in Capstick. Also love to play with my buddy's pair. Smooth action, high capacity, what's not to like.

3) My recently acquired 12ga BSS. I know it's not a greener or purdy, but it's a smooth swinging fatty. No better gun in my safe for a combo woody/ ruffy hunt.

I've been jonesin for an sweet 16 Elsie for a long time now...

I don't use a shotgun often anymore.

For quail, I still take the 1938 Ithaca 20 SXS. Just deadly on 'em

Ducks? I take the Browning A5 3" Mag 12

Rabbits or squirrel, it will usually be the Mossberg 20 pump Sometimes I take my first long gun, a Stevens single barrel 20 GA. Still kills 'em dead.

For the skeet range, I have a set of 12 GA O/U Nikko 5000, that are a joy to shoot.

For hogs, I have a Remington 870 pump with a rifle sight barrel. It groups Brenneke KO slugs well.

Ithaca 37 featherweight. It was my very first shotgun. My Dad bought it for me when I was 12 and started hunting. 40 yrs later and lots of birds and squirrels its still works. Dont hunt as much as I once did but it sees lots of use around the house for a yard gun. Chippys and Red squirrels mostly. And Now I keep an 18" open choke barrel on it.
Its the bottom in pic.

When I hunt grouse I use an old Winchester single shot 20g and for turkeys I use a 12g Browning BPS. Notice how they get heavier the longer you have them?:D

For the last several year my primary shotgun has been a Benelli Super Black Eagle Semi Auto (3.5"). I bought a extra barrell so I have a 24" and a 28". I swap back and forth depending on the game and conditions. Use it mostlly on Doves, Waterfowl (28") and Turkey (24").

Upland game- Remington 870 Wingmaster
Small game- H&R single 20
Deer and Turkey- Remintong 870 Express Mag *cantilever barrel for deer

Since 67 it's been my J.C.Higgins 12ga. pump, vent rib, poly choked. It was bouht new in 1955. I have taken hundreds of Dove Quail Chukker Pheasant rabbits and rattlers with it.

I also shoot Mdl 1100 LT 20ga semi auto. A Remington 870 express 12 ga.

Browning BPS - I'm a lefty, family's righty so we can share. The stock just fits right too.

I only own two shotguns but they're great guns nonetheless.

Usually use my Benelli Montefeltro 12 ga that my dad bought me after I graduated high school. Good gun.

Sometimes get out my old Mossberg 500 20 ga that was my first shotgun.

I love shooting my dad's Browning A-5 20 ga. These are great old guns.

My favorites are all oldies
1897 Winchester pump, flying critters and home defense
Browning A5 23/4'' Hastings slug bbl.
Remington 1100 slug gun
Remington & A5 have spare barrels for wing shooting

only got one, mossberg 835 ulti-mag 12 gauge.....next on my list is an 870 wingmaster.....

The 1897 are nice. The 2 that I've fired aren't the safest guns as a good bump on the ground with the stock and it goes off. Exposed hammer are cool tho.

Also, this is for guns your like, you don't necessarily have to have one or plan to buy one.

My favorite gun to use is my browning silver hunter. A "long tom" with 30" barrel and shorten stock to 13.5" LOP. Inspired by my #1 and #2 on my list. Auto browning with a M12 "heavy duck" configuration.

My favorite is the Remington 1100, have it in trap grade, 3" mag, and field grade. the field grade is an older one, it lists 2 3/4 or shorter shells on the barrel. With spare barrels for them including a slug barrel. HL

It really depends on my mood, I only really hunt pheasant but when I do it is either my Beretta Al-390, Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge, or a Remington 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge.

Ruger Red Label in 20ga.

Browning BPS Upland also in 20, handy little gun!

Then, most any nice old European side by side.

Benelli Super Black Eagle. 3 1/2" chamber with a 26" barrel. Killed dove to deer with this shotgun.

I haven't hunted with a shotgun since I lived in MS., but I just landed (trade for remodel work) a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. Not for hunting, but would suffice in a pinch.

Benelli Nova, has been my go to gun since they came out, and recently picked up a Benelli M2, and really love it!!
