What is your favorite edge grind that John offers and why? What do you mostly use it for? Matter of fact being fairly new here what are all the grinds he offers? I like his Flat grind and know he offers a saber grind which looks like a Scandi to me? Also read on here his first knife was hollow grind which he doesn't offer. What can you tell me you JK fanatics?

I personally like the saber, it just looks so "clean." It is very close to a scandi.

saber is growing on me pretty quick.

Edit: cuts well, leaves rest of blade stronger, John does a very good job with it so it still works as a good slicing grind

I think the sabre is good for a general purpose field-type knife but, for me, is really not like a true scandi in its wood working ability. Overall, I like the traditional flat "V" grind as a slicer.

Chisel grinds are kinda cool but I've always had a little trouble getting them super sharp. Scandi is great for working with wood but I think the V or sabre are better general purpose grinds.

A full convex edge probably isn't my cup of tea either. I always micro-bevel the terminal edge as the convex sometimes doesn't want to bite into certain materials as well.

I really like the grind on my Element Tanto. For whatever reason, that guy is the closest to a scandi-sabre hybrid. It does have a micro bevel on the terminal edge (or secondary edge/bevel as I've heard it called).

Scandi is good for carving wood, but so is FF so I'd go with FF over scandi for light to medium duties & food processing.

For really hard use though, John's O1 with saber grind is hard to beat.

The Saber grind also works just fine at light duty tasks such as fire prep.....

But, the most gorgeous grinds I have from Kaydish are the ones that are on my two XD's - They are awesome looking and my favorite for aesthetics.

Just look at this beauty!
