Now I already made a post about your favorite buck knife but thats not what this one is about.

What is your favorite KIND of knife. I'm talking about slipjoints, lockbacks, spring assisted, liner locks, fixed blades. Which buck knives do your prefer and give an example of that knife. (please tell me if I missed any.

So far I really love lockbacks fixed blades and slipjoints. I have a stockman soon hopoe to get a 301, I have a lockback 110 and 112, and a fixed blade 119.

So whats your favorite.

The 110 is first followed by the slip-joints. I'm also liking the 532 a lot these days.

Would love a 126 fixed blade but haven't been able to get one yet. It's on the list though along with one of the 186 bayonet.

Buck Mayo TnT and Waimea and couldn't love the Vantage Pro any more than I do.

Lockbacks myself, starting with the 110/111's then the Bucklocks and Dukes. Least -favorites are the tacticals and non-traditional types.

lock backs esp the 560..as they left factory
but 110 is better value..
and a 110 with rubber bucky inlays !!!
better then a 560..;)

No contest. Slippies. Old school charm, sheeple friendly, thin functional blade which can cut whatever needs cutting, and pretty much able to do anything any other knife can do. I love Buck Slippies (favorite being the Canoe pattern).

I love their fixed blades. I use them the most in different sizes for different tasks. I find I only have/need one good folder, compared to several fixed blade bucks I own.

A 110 folding hunter with Sambar stag scales and S30V steel. I have two now and will be ordering another from the custom shop in the not-too-distant future.

Second place is the 301 Stockman. I have two of these from the early 70's. One has seen a lot of use and the steel is still in good working shape. This steel (440A I'm told) is not as corrosion resistant as 420HC and is a softer steel with lower edge retention, but it has served well, so I'm not worried about the quality of 420HC and its ability to be of service for many years. I just like S30V a little better. (I have a couple 110's in 420HC, too.)

Oh, yes forgot the Vantage. Great knife for the money and my typical EDC if I'm not carrying a 110.

I like the folding hunters style, and next would be mid sized fixed blades like a 103 skinner/personel,then slippies ,my fav being the buck whittler,by far it is my fav pocket knife,it helped me quit smoking 10 years ago, lets just say i whittled on everything instead of pickin' up a smoke!

You aren't kidding. It is just a great knife...the price is just a bonus. :)
Much more expensive knives are sitting in my knife drawer jealous of this Vantage Pro. I've not stopped carrying it since I got it....about a month ago.

I love different knives for different uses. For EDC I rotate between my Buck 303 and S30V Rush.
For hunting its gotta be my BG-42 Custom 110 and S30V 802.

I have a feeling from recent posts that the Vantage pro will be on this list somewhere, but I don't yet have one!

Let me see, what is my favorite type of knife........lets see now what kind of knives does Buck make.......seems like, seems like, no, well maybe.......I think if pressed to really to admit it maybe I would have to say........s....sl....sli.........SLIPPIES...

Slipjoints----specifically the 300 series. Up till the 90's, Buck was a status symbol in this part of the world. I finally could afford one about 1978. I sometimes feel like a bit of a woosy, admitting that it was a 309 that i chose. The 309 has done 90% of what i have done with a knife. It gets backed by a Victorinox Tinker for edc and an Old Timer 250T for hunting. If i could only have one knife, it would be a slipjoint and it would be a Buck,AMERICAN.

I got my first buck knife in 1967 at an army PX. I used it up till about the early 1990's, when I semi-retired it. A friend passed away, and his wife gave me his old 303 cadet. That still see's use now and then. Old Andy used that 303 for EVERYTHING, up to and including field dressing his buck on opening day.

So I guess you could say my favorite is the 300's stockman and cadet.

It may be heresy, but I never got into the 110, just seemed too heavy for just one cutting blade. I got a 102 woodsman in 1969 for my huntin knife. Light and simple. Cadet and woodsman take care of anything I run into.

I carry a hartsook every day since I discovered neckers. Really handy, tomorrow is the first day of squirrel season. Im looking forward to cleaning a few with it.

Lockbacks... specifically, the 110. Way back in a distant second - fixed blades... specifically, 192 variants.
