Years ago I bought some kitchen knives from a vendor...This guy put on a demonstration where he cut everthing with this knife including the steel from a hammer and it stayed razor sharp..He literally abused this knife in front of everyone and then sliced up all kinds of food-stuff..One of the knives that came in the set was labeled a "utiliy" knife..This knife has a 4 inch blade that resembles the sheepsfoot blade on my stockman...The handle is 5 inches long and feels good in the hand...

For the last 10 years this has been my go-to knife in the kitchen. Its been dicing up everthing from steaks, chops tons of veggies and even frozen foods and has never been sharpened and is still razor sharp...I'm thinking about finding another one and buying a sheath for it. Buy far the most used knife I've ever owned...

It came in a box with 6 steak knives,a paring knife and two of the longer, larger superknives.I liked the utility knife the best because the blade is wider and more rigid than the others ..My family has been using them for at least 10 years and none of them ever needed sharpening..

Also wanted to add the overall length is around 9 inches , It weighs next to nothing and washes up easily..I think it would be the perfect "dedicated food knife" for camping, backpacking or throw one in your bob...

I had a 4 to 6" knife like that. It was a "Good Cook" brand from the local grocery store. It was chef knife shaped and serrated the whole length. This lady (owner of the kitchen) stole it from me on day, and I never saw it again. It was perfect to grab and cut a roll, of saw something off with. Wood handles on the older model though. I'm seriously looking at that small serrated Cold steel one for a replacement. it looks like the cold steel(k4) one is discontinued good grab one while you can,lol I might ------Good Cook (top) CS (bottom)

This sounds like the TV ad for Ginsu knives!

I just asked my wife and she also thinks it was a Ginsu demonstration...It was at least 10 years ago and shes not 100 percect certain...The blade says (STAINLESS USA)..and there are no other markings on the knife....All the Ginsus I've seen have the name on the blade...

I don’t think serrated like that would be a good neck knife; I bet it would get stuck on your shirt pulling it out. It had Shallow "C" shapes like Spyderco, which they will sharpen not like Benchmade, would be better. My gf just got me started on that Al Mar Ultra chef line as we traded 4th year anniversary gifts (I got her pearls) i have the 8" Ultra- chef that should be here on Monday, But I want to show you this other one in that cocobolo wood handle set. I told her I want this one next.

I like the idea of a dedicated fixed blade for food preps...A little Victorinox paring knife also sounds about perfect...I think that a folder is more difficult to keep clean and on my tradional folders I keep a tiny bit of lube on the pivot area...

Trail Edge that is a SWEET knife...The older I get the more I can appreciate good kitchen knives...I love carrying my little tradional folders and they get used at work almost daily but honestly,, a utility knife would meet all my needs at work....I also have a bunch of nice folders that I carry all the time and occasionally use..

The kitchen food prep knife gets used the most out of all the knives I own...
