I think 'fluted' carbon-fiber scales (i.e. on the Native 5) would be a big hit if made for the Spyderco Military... (and really any other large Spyderco knife...)

The Native 5 is a bit small for my large paws... thoughts?

I once collected the native's, yep a bit small for my hand also! but I like the fly titanium scales on my PM2 vary well made of carbon fiber and fit vary well.

I may be alone on this, I prefer wood scales.
I really enjoy the variety it gives each knife and the nostalgic vibe.
Not on a salt knife though.

I have a small collection of 3 Natives that includes the S90V fluted CF Native 5 version which is my favorite among them. There's also the Drunken that I also own, which has a fluted scales as well.

I'd have no objection to expanding the line of fluted CF scales but it will make already expensive knives just that much more expensive, which is a cost vs mkting factor that Spyderco of course would have to assess for potential profitiability.

As for the Millie, there is already the fluted Ti version (which is one of my favorite Spyders) and a fluted CF Millie would certainly give me a reason to buy another even though I have 5 Millies (including the fluted Ti) already. LOL! ;)

I'm not sure it would work as well on the Police (which I prefer in stainless) or other larger Spydercos like the Endura (which is more economy oriented). I wouldn't like it on the Shaman either because its handle is too fat and fluted CF scales IMO call for a slimmer design.

However, it should work on the Native Chief (a cousin to the Native) using better steel and the fluted CF scales as a contrast in size to the smaller fluted CF Native 5. In fact, I think this would be my favorite implementation if it's actually considered.

Yep... Fluted carbon fiber on the Native Chief would be a hit with me!

And on the shaman as well!

I also have a fondness for wood scales... I prefer wood grips on my pistols! (Colt Commander, Walther PP, Ruger SP101,etc...)

For strength, lightness, durability, and gripability; I vote for the skeletonized Titanium handle.View attachment 1496594

I really like what Tom Mayo does, but I am equally happy with fluted Ti and CF. I also like stabilized wood, especially burls. Once treated, they look like wood, but are practically plastic AFAIK. They wont warp or shrink or crack.

I wear L sized gloves and the fluted Ti Native 5 fits my hands perfectly.

I like Micarta...canvas or linen. More forgiving, if dropped, than wood or CF in my experience.

Micarta is "warm" to the touch too.

I detest the look and feel of fine peel ply G10. However, coarse G10 <such as on the Siren> is tolerable for me...ymmv.

I am the oddball that actually really likes the laminated CF/G10 on the Bradley's and Sage 1. I find it beautiful, grippy but not shreddy, extremely durable, shedding typical EDC-tracks like water off a duck. As for favorite, the Ernie fan in me loves me some blasted Ti bolsters and green canvas micarta.

Black linen Micarta is my all time favorite. Smooth in the hand but when it gets wet it grips well.
Also really classy.

Although most of the times I tend to like the blocky feel of Spyderco's flat scales, I gotta say the slightly rounded carbonfiber ones on the Kapara feel absolutely great in-hand. And they do look gorgeous.

I'd love to see them on other knives in the future or sprints of current models.

I've got a pm2 dressed up in Aramis scales and the 3d contouring takes the knife to a whole new level. Totally worth it.

Not oddball at all.

It's a classy look and the slightly raised basketweave-like pattern of the CF is equally pleasing to my eyes as well as my fingers.

I'm eagerly awaiting for this one to drop, too!
