Throughout the forums, I have seen many individuals who love to modify their current pieces and make them better suited for them. It makes the knife 'yours'. I have seen all mods from a simple strip and convex job to making a whole new knife entirely.

Heck, I am thinking of getting an Ontario Air Force Survival Knife myself so I can strip it, grind off top guard and shorten bottom guard, convex it, (maybe make that saw on the back worth using), add a choil, polish, and patina it with some horse radish just to have a fun project to do. :D

So, in the spirit of moddin', I would like to ask you all, what's your favorite knife to mod or favorite knife that you have modded in the past?

I think the Tenacious family by Spyderco is a very good platform for mods. They're so cost effective. The RAT 1 also seems to be popular to mod.

I LOVE me some mods !!!

This is my $21 Ontario 12" machete. Modified D-handle, 2 finger choil, 3.5" of jimping, bowie tip & nice flat spot for fire steel sparking. Love this thing & it also shaves hair.

Ahhhh.....nothing like some mod pics to soothe the soul

TwinStick, I admire what you've done! I'm also diggin' the sheaths you have for the 7 and 9 too!
What bit did you use on the dremel to make your choils? (assuming that is what you used)

Oh yeah, I love that Becker thread (neat stuff), I just wanted to see what everyone's favorite knife to mod is no matter what it is.

I like to mod ANY knife that I own if I can see where it will improve it to MY enjoyment:)

I;m still trying to find a good dvd showing how to do mods. I have no clue at all at this point. Wish someone lived with 50 miles of me that I could go and watch how some of this is done.

Well, what did you have in mind? What is troubling you so? What kind of blade have you been considering to mod?
It doesn't have to be over complicated or risky. You could draw inspiration from the becker mod threads and feel your way through it slowly. I would say to buy an inexpensive knife and practice your skills and start off doing some simple, cosmetic mods first if you have no clue as to what you are doing.
I still am learning too ya know :p
