Just a simple poll. It assumes folding knives. If you prefer fixed blade knives, then please vote for what your favorite lock type is when you carry a folder.

No vote-changing, so think carefully before voting. This is very important! ;)
 
I mostly carry slip joint pocket knives but to answer a poll on lock types I chose the lock type I use on locking knives, Liner Lock. I have a neuropathy that reduces my ability to squeeze many other lock types, Liner Locks are a blessing.

Compression lock

Where is the frame lock option? This is obviously a rigged poll! I'm starting a petition to invalidate your results!

Also where does one go to start a petition? Do I need like some paper and a pen or how does this work?
 
If I had to pick only one lock type to have from now on, it would be backlock. They are simple, reliable and the handle won't look thick or different on each side.

But I don't have a favourite type. As long as it isn't axis or don't have defects like weak detent, blade play or detent rock, I'm good with any type.
 
Added frame lock, as that was a major omission. For the rest, just use 'Other' and try not to get distracted by the fact that not every. single. lock type. is listed.

Caged ball bearing lock I consider to fit under 'Axis lock or similar'.
 
I voted "other" because there was no "anything but a compression lock" option to choose.

I'm good with all other lock types, just don't like that one. It's a tier thing, where my preference is something like:

  1. Any Demko lock, AXIS (and all clones, including CBBL, ARC, etc.), button lock
  2. All other lock types that aren't frame locks
  3. Frame locks

Other = It Doesn't Matter To Me.

Pluses and minuses for every type of folding lock ever created.

I can make do w/whatever type of lock is on the knife or not (as is the case w/a slipjoint or friction folder). If I like the knife, I'll buy/keep it regardless of whether it has a particular type lock or not.
 
For me, it's a sliding scale. I just recently got a Spyderco Canis and I really like the Compression Lock on it. But just depends on what I'm feeling and the novelty of something new. I'm a lefty so frame locks and liner locks need a good relief cut for me to really like them. But a favorite is kind of hard to pick just one of.
