Which brand/model is on your hip?

I like Leatherman, because the bloody guy invented the thing. Wave is cool, but I think I like the beefy Super Tool 200 (it has a ruler vs. the Wave's scissors).

Stick it in a Super Sheath and I'm all set.

I have had leatherman tools and they are pretty good. SOG however has the best mutitools by far. I have a PowerPlier and it's my best friend. I think anyone that still carrys a leatherman hasn't really spend anytime with a SOG. There is no comparision. The SOG tools are harder to find in stores, but they are more technically advanced and better put toghther. Leatherman started the fight but SOG has won.

The Wave is my favorite at this point, not that I don't have a few issues with it though. My problem is that the better ones tend to be larger than the Wave, and are too darned big for my hands. The larger SOGS, Leathermans, Gerbers, Victorinox, etc, are just too big and heavy. The companies should be taking note of the Wave, and develop full-featured multitools that aren't the size of a tank.

If the Pulse only had a saw.........

With that said, I've got a custom Gerber 600 series on order. The custom price was very steep, so the fit and finish better be EXCEPTIONAL!!!

My EDC multitool is a Leatherman C4 Juice. Works great and is small and light enough for me to carry it every day, even at the office (I love my Crunch, for example, but it looks a tad out of place with a suit).

I've been carrying one Leatherman or another for the past 12 years.
Mainly because they're no non-sense.

Things like wings, rubber handles, take-down levers, safety mechanisms and all that don't interest me.

I carry a Wave right now. I love it to death.

Swisstool X. Sure, Leatherman invented them, but Victorinox makes 'em how I want them made.

Leatherman, sideclip. I just clip it to my pocket every morning, no sheath needed.
Jack

SOG PowerLock on a nylon sheath with the horizontal belt loop.
I use to have a Leatherman CS4 Blue Juice, and it's pretty handly and light, but the PowerLock is much more sturdier than the Juice and the Wave.

I agree with Buzzbait 100%!
Alot of the multi-tools out there are way too big and heavy.
So after trying alot of different ones, I went back to the original Leatherman PST. Just the right amount of tools, but not too big, bulky, and heavy.

Good luck,
Allen.

Can't decide. Either Leatherman Juice XE6 - the big one - in a small leather clip-on sheath or the SOG Powerlock. The Powerlock is big and heavy but it is the sturdiest of all of the tools that I've tried. I also like the user replaceable tools....

Love my Wave, but have been carrying the Pulse lately due to comfort and size. Saw sentiment echoed, but I guess that would make it too perfect, huh.

the SOG TiNi Powerlock!!

I was a Leatherman customer for 10+ years, carrying everything from the original PST to the Wave. The Wave was just too lightweight for me so I traded it off, and bought myself my first SOG. I was, and still am, very happy with LM products, but I just wanted a change and the TiNi Powerlock fits the bill and then some.

With all of the options that come with this SOG, I won't ever need to buy another multitool again. As glockman said, the SOG Powerlock IS the best. :D  :D

when i was lookcing for a multi tool, it was a hang up between lm and sog, at first i didn't think that the sog would be as good as the lm, but i went with the sog anyways cause they had the tool config that i wanted and after i got it i would have to say the sog quality is just as good as lm

As much as I love my Wave, my issues with it have to do with fit and finish. Even after years of use, some tools are just too darned stiff to open easily. The one-hand opening plain-edge knife is too stiff to open one handed. One side of the pliers is too stiff. One whole set of inner tools is too stiff. I've opened and closed the stuff a million times; I've oiled; and yet.... still too stiff!!!

I'd take the Wave apart and give it a shot of wet/dry paper to smooth things out, but some lunatic put the dreaded mystery screws in it. If ANYBODY knows where to get the darned screwdriver for this thing, SPEAK!!!!

Maybe I should get a SOG Powerlock and use it to snap my Wave in half. Then stick the saw blade from the Wave into a Pulse.

Would that be the set of Phillips, L Flathead, Lanyard & Opener? You're supposed to use the Lanyard to open them.

That would be a piece of cake if the tools weren't so stiff. The lanyard piece just moves right inside the handle whenever I move the other tools back inward. I'm talking STIFF!!!

hehe, tie rope to the lanyard attachment.
It'll prevent it from going into the handle.

Just pull the rope to get all the tools on that side out.
