I've been looking into getting a neck knife. I know absolutely NOTHING about blades of these sizes. I'm looking for one thats around 3inches overall. So far all ive found is this small knife called a Mantis Picker. Probably some cheapo steel but its about the size im looking for. Which ones do you carry around your neck?

nice! looks very useful. but kinda big. im looking for something like 3 inches overall in total. i figure that if a knife is 5 inches in length, i might at well just add 3 more inches and carry it on my waist. or am i thinking the wrong way?

3" OAL is damn short. Around that size I'd consider an ESEE Candiru or a Becker BK13 Remora, but they're really too small for me to use much. I carry the Candiru as a hideout in my boot and the Remora in the pocket sheath of my BK7.

Slightly bigger, much more useful; ESEE Izula or a Becker BK11 Necker. But... these always end up on my belt.

My favorite necker is a custom from Mark Wohlwend. He makes damn amazing stuff. That one does go around my neck.

i ended up with a TOPS A.L.R.T01. has anyone tried these? i should receive it sometime this week. lets see how it goes.

I'm a fan of the CS push daggers.
Have the mini tac tanto but to be unbiased like the Esse isula the best

I have a nice Microtech Medallion with a perfect topbreak sheath. Unfortunately, afaik it's no longer in production. (?)

I like them small to. I see it as a back up/last resort. I have a custom that I never take off, so even if my pants change, or Im not wearing any I still have something. Also it rarely gets used so it stays super sharp, which is nice to know. I never saw the point of carrying something as large as an Izula around my neck.

I've been using an ESEE Izula on a paracord neck rope for fishing and (when I get off my lazy ass) house work.

I love my Tom Krein midtech Dogfish and custom TK11 for when a bigger neck knife is needed. Tom can make a sheath just as well as his knives.

I have two; a Pinkerton Dirk, 4 1/4" damascus fixed blade w/skeleton handle. And a Kit Carson - Custom F4 neck knife, A-2 steel, 3.5" blade 7.5" OAL, G-10 handle slabs, kydex sheath.

You want one 3" OAL - are you going to carry it in a locket or something? Three inches is about the length of your index finger - visualize that as a knife. How many fingers can you get on it and still have any finger left to simulate a blade? That's a weird way to say it, I guess but grab your index finger so that you leave one inch of it (fingertip to first knuckle) sticking out. It would be tough to do much in comfort with a knife of that size, IMO.

I've got a Becker BK13 that gets little to no use because it's just too tiny at approx 5" OAL. I could use it but the handle is only long enough for me to get about 2.5 fingers on it and Candiru looks to be about the same. There's a reason ESEE Izula, Becker BK11 and BK14 are so popular in the neck knife niche.

I'd go with one of those three - personally, I like the BK11.

I agree about the izula or eskabar

down the line I will be buying one of those. most likely the izula for the large choice of custom handles and blade colors
